Storyteller POV:
Tanjiro dropped the food into the floor.
He was frozen. He couldn't even change the direction in which he was looking. His throat was dry, and it felt as if he were being drowned in a sea of thorns. Maybe his injury hadn't recovered that fast after all.Giyuu Tomioka, the water pillar, the man whom he trusted the most and saw as a father, was dead.
As the perfect addition, his cause of death was none other than himself.Glassy tears pooled up in the bottoms of his eyes as his eyes as they began to sting. He still couldn't look away, no matter how much he wanted to.
Glistening streams flowed down the sides for his face. He still couldn't move, his body wouldn't listen to him.
He was shaking.
All of a sudden, he gained control of his body again.
Tanjiro ran towards Giyuu's hanging body, unable to think of a solution to this issue. There was no solution. This problem was unable to be solved.
Tanjiro ran out of the estate, stepping on the bento box he'd dropped and almost tripping on it. He ignored it. The only other hashira's home that he knew how to get to, was in fact, the butterfly mansion. So that is where he ran.
Tanjiro ran, and ran, and ran. His tears flew off his face as the cold air make his throat feel dry.
"Kanao!!" Tanjiro cried as he ran towards his now significant other.
She looked surprised to see him so soon after he went to see Giyuu, but kept on the same expression as she always has.Shinobu listened to their conversation from her lab window.
"Giyuu!! It's Giyuu!" Tanjiro wept as Kanao wiped his tears.
Shinobu kept listening, although she felt her heart sink at the idea that something horrible had happened to her friend."H-he's dead! Giyuu's dead! He killed him-self." Tanjiro said, his voice cracking as he spoke.
Shinobu felt her heart sink into her chest, her purple eyes widening. Giyuu was dead? How? Himself? What did he do? It took her a moment to process it.
The window was just large enough for her to jump out of. And considering that, she jumped out of it.
"Tomioka-san is.. dead?" She asked, landing in-front of Tanjiro.
She didn't wait for a response, just a couple seconds of staring said it all.
Shinobu shook her head, trying her best not to cry. Her friend, a fellow hashira, was now gone.
Gone.
Shinobu's eyes began to water as she ran towards the Ubuyashiki mansion. She felt guilty as she opened the gate.
"Oyataka-sama!!" Shinobu called out as she ran towards her master, who was talking with Sanemi.
Sanemi sent her an irritated glance, obviously already in a bad mood.
"What could be sooo important that you had to interrupt me!?" Sanemi asked sourly.
He then realized that she was crying. Shinobu was crying. She turned to Kagaya, spitting it out almost instantly.
"Giyuu commit suicide!!" The usual pure smile on Kagaya's face faded quickly, and was replaced by a shocked and sorrowful expression.
Sanemi stared at Shinobu in horror and disbelief. How could someone so full of himself want to die?Kagaya quickly called a hashira meeting as he visibly fought back his tears.
The hashira came quickly, most likely since Kagaya had specifically said that this was very important in the message.
As soon as they arrived they were all kneeling. Obanai looked around, then at Sanemi, who was already next to him.
"Where is that loner? Does he just think that he's that important to the point where he can just ignore a hashira meeting.
Sanemi stared back at Obanai, with a look of dismay on his face. He knew, but Obanai didn't.
Kagaya quickly began speaking.
"As you may have noticed, Giyuu Tomioka is not here." Spoke Kagaya with a serious but also sad tone.
All of the hashira (except Shinobu, Sanemi, and Obanai) all began looking around, and some of them nodded.Kagaya too a deep breath, before exhaling slowly.
"Giyuu... Giyuu Tomioka has taken his own life."
The atmosphere changed. The hashira, not including Shinobu and Sanemi, were wide eyed.
Tanjiro peeked around the corner, he had caught up to Shinobu about a minute ago but wanted to listen a bit.
He stepped up and looked at the hashira, as Sanemi sent a hateful glance in his direction.
Sanemi wasn't able to drown out his guilt as he had been doing with his anger.
He had been constantly bullying and making fun of the loner, and only now saw how it really affected Giyuu. He felt like this was his fault, like if he had treated him better, he wouldn't be dead.
And to be honest, maybe I wouldn't be.
.
.
"And that's why I commit suicide, Sabito!" Giyuu announced loudly.
Sabito stared at him like Giyuu was explaining rocket science in response.
"You need mental help." Sabito said with a low voice as they both sat on opposite sides of the split boulder.
(There is a rewrite that's currently being made! :) The first few chapters of it have been released.)
