"Did he just throw glitter at me?" he says slowly in a dangerous tone but weirdly calm.
"Yep." I said. "I'm kind of regretting it now, though." Artemis says clutching the glitter while looking at massimo in shutters.
Was he scared? For fucks sake he's scaring my son. Massimo takes a deep breath with his eyes closed and then opens it.
"Okay." he sighs. I could tell he was going lengths to control his temper right now which makes me wonder what kind of man I married?
Was he some narcissist with anger issues? What if he beats women everytime he gets angry. What if he has some type of vendetta or fetish towards black women.
Why does he try so hard to control his anger when he really shouldn't be that angry that glitter is on him.
"I don't know how you got here but it makes things a lot easier for me." he says in a low voice before prying the glitter out of Artemis' hands and resting it on his desk.
"Please let me go." I rasp. If I'm being honest, I'm scared,now. Just a second ago he radiated such anger from his body and now the realization hits me that I had people trick me out of my home so they could bring me to him.
What the fuck was i doing? I had a child and yet i was stupid enough to get myself into this. I pull Artemis closer to me in a protective mode that does not go unnoticed by massimo.
"I'm not forcing you to stay here, Alexandra. I'm warning you and telling you that you should." he says calmly. "Warning me? Please just sign the papers and leave me alone." I say bitterly.
"I fucking burned those papers ages ago." he growls. "I'm sorry I shouldn't swear in front of the boy, right?" He quickly follows up.
"All good." Artemis chuckles nervously. He nods in response.
"I don't understand." "because you've never let me explain." "so explain." I snap. He takes another sigh. "People are trying to kill you.. Because of me." he says slowly.
I almost needed to laugh. "Because of your mafia?" I say sarcastically. He gives me a look declaring he's offended. "Yes, because of my mafia." He grits.
"Mafia?" Artemis raises both his brows in amusement then looks at me with concern. "Mafia." I confirm returning the same look to him.
"Glad I'm humoring you both." Massimo says in an annoyed tone.
"I mean, he has the look." Artemis muses. "Tall, tan, dark hair, nice stubble, full of tattoos. He probably has some type of trauma story related to his whole mafia business." he says laughing his way through making me crack a smile.
