Chapter 1: Lazarus

It's pouring rain outside and Liana runs to where Clark is to see him lying on the ground not moving because there's a Blue Kryptonite blade imbedded into his chest, and she pulls it out and she places her hand on Clark's face and she softly says, "Clark?" Clark opens his eyes to see Liana looking over him with worry in her eyes. Clark looks down to see that Liana pulled the Blue Kryptonite blade out of his stomach and he says, "Thank you." Liana smiles and helps Clark up and the sun appears, and Clark gets his strength back. The wound on Clark's chest heals and Liana smiles glad that Clark's okay. Liana says, "What happened? How are you here?" Clark says, "The Blue Kryptonite blade that Zod stabbed me with prevented me from ascending. He's gone along with everyone else. I also, kind of died. But I'm here now, thanks to you." Liana says, "Can we go back to the part where you died?" Clark says, "It was more of a near-death experience. Jor-El told me that a greater evil was coming." Liana says, "A greater evil? Did he give you a name?" Clark says, "No, Liana, before I left, I saw Lex. Dr. Fate said that he would be my ultimate opponent." Liana says, "Coming back to life, not exactly covered by an HMO. We need to get to Watchtower." Clark grabs Liana and speeds them to Watchtower and they walk in, and they don't see Chloe. Liana walks up to the computer and starts typing. Clark says, "Maybe, he went off the grid to one of his own facilities." Liana says, "Me and Chloe kept a pretty close eye on any Luthor flare ups. I mean, Level 3, Metron Pharmaceuticals, 33.1. Clark, all these projects are dead." Clark says, "Well, maybe he revived something from years ago." Liana says, "Way back when there wasn't much digital record to track. You know, Clark, if they did a story on this at The Daily Planet, they would have a hard copy stored in the archives." Clark says, "I didn't get rid of Zod just to let some other evil take his place." Clark speeds away.

Later, Clark is on the phone with Liana and he says, "Liana. I found a research facility linked to LuthorCorp that wasn't in the files. Cadmus Labs. Can you dig up an address for me?" Liana says, "Yeah, I'm sending you the coordinates now." Clark says, "Thanks." Liana tries Chloe and Chloe answers and says, "Liana, this isn't a good time right now." Liana hears whispering and she says, "Who was that?" Liana hears someone say, "Brave but not chosen yet. Love is dangerous. Nabu knows." Liana worriedly says, "Chloe, where are you?" Chloe says, "Sorry, Liana, but I knew you and Clark would only try and stop me." Chloe hangs up and Liana calls Clark and sends him to go get Chloe, who's at the JSA headquarters. Later, Clark brought Chloe to Watchtower and called Emil and he has Chloe on a table. Emil says, "She has elevated blood pressure, irregular pulse. Hyperactive eye movement. It's as if her body is in massive trauma." Liana's near Chloe and grabs her hand and softly says, "Chloe... I know you can hear me. You're one of the strongest people that I know when you're fighting for the rest of us. Don't lose that now when you need it the most. Don't give up, Chloe." Chloe gasps and says, "Fire. It's all burning. Liana... I'm so sorry." Chloe then wakes up and she breathes heavily and says, "I have to find him." Clark says, "Find who?" Chloe says, "Oliver. Someone took him when you were fighting Zod. They threatened to take all of us. So, I put on Fate's helmet. I couldn't lose him." Clark says, "Okay, where is he?" Chloe says, "Don't worry. Everything's gonna be fine. I saw it. Clark... I saw you, too. You were the world's hero, and you weren't in black. And there was a fire, in a lab." Liana says, "Did the lab happen to be named Cadmus?" Chloe nods and says, "Yes and I think it's burning. Clark, you have to go." Clark nods and speeds away. Liana gives Chloe a hug glade that she's okay, Chloe hugs Liana back. What Liana or Clark don't know is that Fate's helmet showed Chloe how to save Oliver is a deadly plan. Later, Liana steps out of Watchtower and is on her way to get a cup of coffee. Liana then gets grabbed by someone and that person chlorophyll's her until she's knocked out. Later, Liana wakes up with a groan to see her tied up like a scarecrow and looks down at her chest to see a necklace that was similar to her meteor rock necklace. Liana looks up to see a man and he says, "'And would that I might endure his agony as well as mine.' "The Scarlet Letter." Of course, the letter... is a mark of shame. At least it was when I found Clark tied to that post ten years ago. Don't you remember, Liana?" Liana looks more closely at the man and says, "Lex? What happened to you?" Lex smiles and says, "I've evolved. And with age... comes wisdom. Hmm? You see, Liana, you are his greatest weakness. Your death will break him." Lex walks away and lights the field on fire. Liana struggles to get off the post, but she can't, and she feels herself getting weak. Then the fire blows out and Liana's off the post on the ground. Liana starts coughing and wakes up to see the fire is out and she softly smiles because she knew that Clark saved her.
