Louis' POV- flashback

“Hi”, someone says, tapping my shoulder.

I turn around quickly, surprised by someone talking to me. I’m just sitting on the roundabout of the camping side’s playground.

No one here ever talks to me. My sister’s only a baby. She doesn’t talk yet. She only screams and screams and mum’s only caring for her and dad’s yelling even louder than Lottie.

No one speaks to me.

“Hi”, he says again and climbs into the carousel, “What are you doing?”

“I’m sitting here”, I say and look at the eyes of the boy.

They’re as green as the leaves of the trees.

“Ah”, he says, “Fun. Why are you not riding it?”

“I like better when it doesn’t move.”

“Ah”, he says again.

Then it’s silent. We just stare at each other for a bit. I think he’s pretty weird. He’s still a baby, probably. I don’t think he even goes to school yet.

“Why do you not play with all the kids?”

I shrug. “I like being alone.”
