Harry's POV
The first living mammal to go into space was a dog named Laika.
She died about six hours into the flight.
Space always brought me happiness. I was blinded by it’s good sides. Space destroys things. I was flying, there were stars and the heat of the sun and the brightness of the moon.
Now I’m falling, even though there’s no gravity up there.
I bet Laika felt so alone and helpless up there, just like me.
I kneel down beside Louis. His dad left his face alone, at least I can’t see the bruises forming beneath his clothes.
“No. Nonononono”, I mumble, “Louis, no. You can’t leave. I’ll be Saturn without a ring. Louis, please. I’ll be the universe without a sun, you can’t go, Louis, don’t leave me, I can’t have you leave me.”
I’m crying, badly. I should be the one protecting him, caring for him. I failed as a brave astronaut. Maybe I’m just a stupid dog being sent to space after all.
“Calm down”, he whispers, moving for the first time, “Breaths, baby, don’t forget to breathe.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too. I need to go Harry.”
I start crying again. He shakes his head, presses a finger into my dimple.
“For now. I’m leaving for now. I sent an application to a university in London. That’s where you still live, right?”
I nod through glassy eyes.
“Good. Look, maybe I’ll get in. Then we’ll be so close. Don’t you worry, my love. I’ll be there, alright?”
I nod. I kiss him once and softly.
“Give me your phone”, he says, “You can’t text me, only once so I can save you under my contacts. But dad is always checking my phone, hear me? I will text you once I know if I got in. Zayn and I planned moving in together for a long time now. I’ve packed most of my stuff already. Uni starts in September.”
I nod again.
“Good. Promise me you’ll be there, H. Don’t do anything stupid, don’t leave me or anything.”
I nod. "Promise."
“I’m gonna move out of this hell and then we’ll be fine.”
I nod again.
He kisses me onto my lips. Then he’s gone.
Saturn is the only planet that could float in water.
I’m Saturn. I feel like I’m drowning.
