Is it too much to ask to have a normal life?
Sans carefully massaged his nasal ridge and temples as the loud argument or, 'civilized debate' as his bro put it, went on in the background.
They had finally reached the surface and were slowly regaining some sense of normalcy after the high tensions and war threats. Was it too much to ask for a smooth, sleepy life? He was even trying to be more active and motivated! Is this where that got him? In a university lab van with a pair of doppelgangers on the run?
Well not really on the run, no one was pursuing them...yet. But word had already got out, at least in the lab, that something serious had gone down in Alphys' private workspace. It would only be a matter of time before the existence of other universes is leaked. Probably by Alphys herself, she understood the severity of the situation, of course, and how this revelation may tip the scales of human and monster relations that had just recently settled, but a scientific discovery this big was hard to keep secret. Sans understood the feeling, but right now he was not willing to risk the cozy life he and his brother were building.
"HOW DARE YOU INSINUATE THAT ANY 'VERSION' OF ME COULD BE AS SOFT AND PITIFUL AS YOU!"
But that would have to wait until after he dealt with this mess.
Sans brother and his brother's doppelganger were sitting in the two edge seats of the middle row of the large family van arguing over the explanation of what had transpired. Sans was sitting in the shotgun seat as Alphys nervously drove them all to the skeleton brother's home. Sans couldn't help but feel some level of pity for his own double who was sweating magical bullets, stuck between the two loud, boisterous skeletons.
"WELL, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO THINK OF IT THAT WAY, THEN JUST THINK OF ME AS ANOTHER BROTHER! OR SOME OTHER RELATIVE. NYEHEHE!"
"AS IF I WOULD TOLERATE BEING RELATED TO A PATHETIC CREAMPUFF LIKE YOU! I WOULD RATHER FLING MYSELF OFF OF THE BRIDGES IN HOTLAND!"
Sans let his head fall into his hands. What was he going to do? They couldn't take these doubles anywhere else besides the skeleton brother's home, maybe he could room them with Tori or someone else once they let them know what was up.
Sans let out a low groan, that wasn't a conversation he was looking forward to. But it had to be done. Alphys already knew and she was terrible at keeping secrets, besides the one about the Amalgamates, but she had learned not to let things eat away at her like that again. She would likey tell her mate Undyne who would tell Toriel, who would immediately question why Sans hadn't told her himself.
Sans shivered, dealing with a concerned scolding was far better than dealing with an angry scolding. But that was for later, right now he would have to figure out what to do with this other set of brothers. It would be a tight fit at their house and he wasn't able to get a new home so quickly and easily. The housing market was not merciful to monsters, especially once they picked up on how loaded they actually are.
If he had the option, Sans wouldn't be dealing with their doubles in this fashion, he would have stayed in the lab and figured out a way to ship them back to wherever they came from. But when the angrier, edgier pair popped out of the void, the Void had sucked up parts of the machine. There was no telling if it could operate again, but Alphys already put an order in for new parts. But in the meantime, they had subsequently freaked out, calmed down, calmed the doubles down, called Papyrus and explained what happened, snuck their doubles out of the lab and into a heavily tinted lab van, and were now driving miles above the speed limit to the skeleton brother's house.
"WELL, FOR THE RECORD, I WOULD BE JUST THRILLED TO BE RELATED TO YOU! IN ANY WAY!"
The sharper version of his brother closed his mouth with an audible click, a bright red dusting his cheekbones. He then swiftly crossed his arms and turned his head away releasing a huff, "BUT OF COURSE YOU WOULD WANT TO BE RELATED TO SOMEONE AS MAGNIFICENT AS ME! THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE PAPYRUS! NYAHAHAHA!"
