Chris and Matt sat in their mini van, out front of Maeve's house.
"Why can't you just tell her?" Matt asked.
"Cause she's not gonna believe me!" Chris said.
"Yeah but like...do you really like her? I mean there's plenty of fish in the-"
Chris slapped Matt's arm.
"Ow! Fine!" Matt shouted, holding his arm.
The car went quiet, Chris looked out the car window to see any sign of Maeve. She should either be walking home from her work or in her house.
"You really like her, don't you?" Matt asked.
"Yeah." Chris nodded.
"I think she's my person, Matt." Chris laughed.
"That's good, man. I'm hoping it turns out good for you two." Matt patted Chris's shoulder.
"Thanks. Oh there she is!" Chris bent down.
They watched as Maeve walked up the small steps to her door, opening it and walking in.
"Come on!" Chris got out of the car, Matt repeated his actions.
"Ready?" Chris asked.
"Yeah, sure." Matt nodded.Chris nocked lightly on the door, soon Maeve answered.
"Am i in trouble?" Maeve asked, looking between the boys.
"No. Matt has something he wants to say. Go ahead, Matty b." Chris said.
Maeve looked at Matt with raised eyebrows, making Matt gulp loudly.
"Um so, Maevey, Maeve. Remember i'm your best friend when i tell you this!" Matt said.
"Get to the point!" Chris slapped the back of his head.
"It was me in the picture. Chris never kissed any other girl besides you." Matt said quickly.
"Wait, what?" Maeve asked.
"It was Matt in the photo! I didn't kiss anyone!" Chris said.
"Oh. Ok." Maeve nodded.
The two boys looked at each other with wide eyes.
"That's it?" Matt asked.
"What else do you want me to say?" Maeve chuckled at how confused the boy's looked.
"So do you liked me again?" Chris asked.
"Chris, i never stopped liking you i just lost trust in you. Now you have my trust but i still need some time. We need to slow down a little." Maeve explained.
"Ok! I can do that!" Chris smiled widely.
"Thanks Maeve." Chris pulled the girl into a hug and left a kiss on her cheek before walking back to the car.
"I'll text you!" Chris shouted.
"Ok!" Maeve waved as the car pulled out.
"I like you too!" Chris shouted loudly, his head out the window.
Maeve laughed at how stupid the boy looked. But he was her stupid boy. and there was nothing changing that."He kissed me on the cheek." Maeve explained.
Hanna and Rory had come over as soon as Maeve told them she had news.
"So Matt kissed Ally?" Rory asked, looking down at her feet.
"Oh my god! you so like Matt!" Hanna said.
"No! I hate him!" Rory shouted.
"Noooo. You def like him." Maeve grinned.
"Guys! Shut up! Let's get back to how MATT ruined what Maeve and Chris had going!" Rory said.
"Ok but this conversation is not over, missy." Hanna said.
"But i told him i still need some time." Maeve said.
"Yeah, understandable." Rory nodded.
"But you gotta remember, summers in a week and you have your dad's wedding in 2 weeks." Hanna reminded.
"I only need a few days. I have a good feeling about Chris. I feeling i didn't have with Conner or Luke." Maeve smiled.
"Ror, our girl is in love." Hanna pretended to cry.
"They grow up so fast." Rory wiped fake tears as the two hugged dramatically.
"Stop!" Maeve laughed, falling back on to her bed.Maddy sat in a table, a few other kids her age surrounded.
"Deal me in." Maddy spoke.
The one kid gave her some cards.
"What are you giving for the winner?" The kid asked.
"A Lululemon gift card with 50 bucks on it." Maddy slipped it in the middle of the table as the girls gasped.
"Good deal." The kid nodded.
"I know." Maddy gave her the stink eye.
The group started as one girl asked.
"Do you have any 7s?"
"Go fish." The rest of them said.
"10s?"
"Go fish."
Maddy slipped the girl two 10s.
"2s?" Maddy asked.
The girl next to her slipped her one 2.
The game continued until it came to a winner. Maddy's friend, Kayla won.
"Good games girls. Until next Friday." Maddy spoke.
The group stood out of the chairs saying bye."Have you been hosting gambling games at our home when mom's at work?" Maeve walked into Maddy's room.
"Maybe." Maddy shrugged.
"Mads, you can't be doing that." Maeve shook her head, walking over to help her sister put away the cards.
"It's really not gambling. We only gamble in go fish but we play a ton of other games to. Like Twister, and uno, and crazy 8." Maddy said.
"You know who's really good at cards?" Maeve said.
"Who?"
"Chris." Maeve answered.
"Really?" Maddy looked surprised.
"Yeah i played with him like 3 times the last time he was over and he beat me all 3 times." Maeve said.
"Invite him over please!" Maddy pleaded.
"Fine. I'll see. He might not be able to." Maeve said, pulling out her phone.
She texted Chris asking if he wanted to verse Maddy in a game or 2 of uno.
"He'll be here in like 10." Maeve said.
"Yes!" Maddy celebrated.
Maeve was glad that Maddy liked Chris. The two got along and the card games is something they bonded over. Maddy was crazy for a good game of cards.Soon, Chris was over and he sat across from Maddy who was death staring him.
"I'm scared." Chris whispered to Maeve.
"You'll be fine. Just don't beat her. Then she'll kill you." Maeve whispered back, She placed her arms around Chris's neck as the game of uno started.
"Uno!" Chris yelled within 3 minutes of the game.
Maddy groaned and gave Chris the stink eye.
He looked over at Maeve with wide eyes. Maeve giggled.
"Yes i won! I won!" Chris celebrated. The game lasted about 10 minutes.
Maeve sat Chris back down. Maddy stared at Chris like she was a predator and he was her prey.
He felt a shiver go down his spine.Chris won 2 other games and Maddy won 1 and now she was on his back, slapping the top of his head as Maeve tried to pull her off. Chris was laughing tho so all was well.
"Maddy let go of him! I claimed him!" Maeve shouted.
Maddy finally let go, coming down to her feet and looking up at Chris.
"this isn't over, Christopher." Maddy spoke, walking upstairs.
"She has a gambling problem." Maeve said.
"I can tell." Chris nodded.
Maeve laughed as the two made their way into the kitchen.
"So you claim me?" Chris questioned.
"Pretty much." Maeve nodded.
Chris let his arms wrap around her waist, spinning her to face him.
"I really wanna kiss you right now." Chris admitted.
"So, why don't you?" Maeve muttered.
"Cause i'm supposed to be giving you space." Chris rested his forehead on hers.
"I'm sure of myself. I'm sure of us." Maeve said.
Chris smiled, placing his lips on hers softly. Maeve ran her hands through his hair like she did the very first time they kissed.
He was happy that he finally had his girl back. He just needed to make her officially his girl.
