Chapter Sixteen

The next day, Rain and I both had doctor appointments at ten, so we stayed home from school to clean the house and my mom picked us up at nine.

We told my mom what happened last night, and she agreed with what I had said.

"Logan is not thinking straight," she said, turning on the bypass. "He made this decision without telling you or thinking about how will it affect you or the baby."

Rain just shook her head. "That's what made me mad. He didn't even talk to me about it, just made the decision without me. I may be new at this, but you don't do that. It's wrong."

"Well, Jake said he'll talk to Logan when he gets back," I said. "Maybe he can get him to reconsider."

"Maybe so."

At my doctor's appointment, Allie did an ultrasound on me and checked mine and the baby's vitals.

"Very good," she said when she was done. "Your baby's progressing very well and you're gaining weight very healthily."

"Thanks, Allie!" I said.

"No problem, sweetie, but I am going to ask you to miss school for the day. Take the rest of the day to relax."

My mom just laughed. "She will. She and Rain spent the morning cleaning the house."

"That's fine. Now, she can spend the rest of the time resting."

I just laughed. "I'll do that! Thanks, Allie."

"Have a good day, sweetie."

When I left the examining room, Rain was finished with her visit and met us in the hallway, smiling.

"So, what did the doctor say?" I asked as we left the building.

Rain just laughed. "She said I was doing a lot better and to avoid stress. She also told me to miss school for the day."

"As did mine. So, where to for lunch? I am starving!"

"Me, too!"

My mom just handed me the keys. "Let's go to Subway. I have been craving a meatball sub all week."

"Sounds good to me." I said, driving down the road.

After lunch, Rain drove us back to school, so my mom could get our assignments, then Rain and I went back home and started on them, while she went back to work.

It only took us fifteen minutes to finish everything and college classes were canceled, so we decided to read to our babies until Jake got home.

I was first. I read Shakespeare's "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream" followed by Rain reading Marked, the first book of the House of Night series. Both of us were hoping our kids will be geniuses someday by us reading to them, but will be okay if that was not the case.

At two-thirty, Jake came home from work and greeted me with a kiss before handing Rain and me each a pint of cookie dough ice-cream; to which, we said thanks and started eating.

The three of us hung out in the living room watching my 16 and Pregnant DVDs for another hour when we heard a car horn. So, we went outside and got a big surprise.

"No way," I gasped.

We saw a silver, VW Jetta in the driveway, Kayla Danles stepping out of the driver's seat, and Amanda exiting the passenger's side.
