The next day, Rain and I caught a ride to school with Kayla and Amanda, only to be turned around due to a last minute emergency meeting. So, we headed to meet the Davises in town to pay the rent, but I was shocked at what I was told. "My mom already paid our rent?"
Mrs. Davis nodded. "Six months in advance, so you have nothing to worry about. Just move in this weekend and enjoy your house."
She handed me the key and went to her car, smiling.
Rain just looked at me, eyes bugged, and said, "That was nice of your mom."
"Yeah," I squeaked. "Very nice."
Two hours later, I went with Chloe and Kristin to Black Rose Records for their reunion with Sky, who was sitting in the lobby with Alyssa and Jenna.
"Hey, superchicks," I said, running towards them.
They just greeted me with hugs and Sky squealed when she noticed the girls.
"Hey, sweetie," Chloe smiled.
Sky immediately jumped for joy and ran towards the girls, hugging them.
"I missed you guys," she cried. "How is everything?"
They went to another part of the room while I visited with Alyssa and Jenna.
"So, what's going on?" I asked.
Jenna just laughed, "Ethan's doing a run, so Alyssa's hanging out with me to keep me company while the other kids are at school."
"Cool," I replied, bumping her fist.
Laughing, Alyssa said. "I don't have class until tonight and just finished my manuscript, so I decided to take a break, with mom tagging along. We also wanted to check on Sky, so here we are."
"Nice."
Sky and the girls returned laughing, then she told us that Dead Rose and Scarlet Rose were playing at Good Time Charlie's Saturday and wanted us to attend.
"You bet!" I squealed. "How much are the tickets?"
"No need to worry about that." Jana said, approaching. "Carter and I got you covered, so save your money for drinks."
"Really?"
"For real, sweetie. We get to invite unlimited people to this concert and we're inviting our family and friends."
"Ethan and I might be there," Jenna replied, "if we can get someone to watch the kids. Carrie deserves a night off."
Alyssa shook her head. "They can come, too, mom. They love rock music."
"There's going to be moshing, baby, and they can get hurt. Joseph might be able to handle it, but the little ones are vulnerable."
Nodding, Jana said. "We'll think of something, Jen. No way are you missing this concert."
Alyssa just laughed in response.
Later that afternoon, I came home the same time as Jake and Logan and told them the news.
"Your mom paid our rent for six months?" Jake said. "That's great!" Did you thank her, yet?"
I shook my head. "This deserves beyond a thank you, baby. Don't you think?"
"We need to do something, but what?"
I thought for a second, "How about we cook supper for her and Laura, tomorrow? We can grill out or something."
"We can do Chicken Parmesan with Pasta and Cheesecake for dessert."
"Perfecto, sweetie, and we can have some vegetables with it."
