I jotled awake, breathing heavily. My brown eyes were unfocused with terror and sorrow. Mitch rushed over to me and crouched beside me. I felt his hand on my shoulder and leg. I leaned into Scott and buried my face in his chest.

Scott: Kirstie, what's the matter?

Kailyn's dead! She's gone! I wailed silently as I trembled in Scott's arms. He held me close and I then felt Mitch's hand on my knee, I knew that he wanted me to say what was the matter so I saw up and gasped out two words.

Me: She's gone.

Mitch stood up and bolted into the cabin. I kept myself from following him, but as I heard a high pitched cry of sorrow and agony, I stood up and rushed into the cabin. Instinctively I went to Kailyn's room. The door was open and when I saw inside I gasped in horror. Mitch was on the floor crying and his fists were clenched as his body trembled. I rushed over to him and fell on my knees as I saw blood on the floor as I cried out with the pain of a mother.

Me: No! Kailyn!

I had lost my friend that I treated like a daughter. Kailyn was more than a friend. It felt as if she was my daughter and in dreams and sadly nightmares she actually was my daughter. I knew she was gone! I heard Mitch cry out and at that moment I knew that she was dead and gone. And after what my nightmare had been, Jessica had done it. Kailyn! Why? Why did you have to leave me? I shouldn't have told Kailyn that I would be okay without her. That was a lie! I didn't mean it. It was just a nightmare that came true. Then suddenly I felt Mitch's arms around me and I leaned into him. I felt his head lift and knew that he was staring at Kailyn's spilled blood. A call came from Scott, but niether me or Mitch made a sound. We were too struck with grief to answer the call. Next thing I know, I heard Scott rush into the room and felt him put his hand on my back. Suddenly wanting only Scott, I flung myself into his arms. Instantly he held me close, understanding the grief and pain I was having. Suddenly a thought occurred to me. Was Kailyn alive? I lifted my head from having it buried in Scott's chest, and stared at Kailyn's spilled blood. The crimson liquid was still glittering, which had to mean that it was fresh. My brown eyes refocused for a split second, long enough for me to see strands of what looked like rope. Jessica didn't kill her, she kidnapped her! Kailyn was alive! Grief of losing Kailyn not to death but to Jessica was too hard for me to feel any type of hope. I buried my face in Scott's chest again as I mourned the loss of someone I loved dearly.
