"So you saw him at the park, where he called you weird, then you ran into him again and he bought you a ton of books and now he's taking you on a date?" Trish asks from her register. It's Saturday and I'm working from when we opened to about 4:00 pm, tonight is my date with Daniel. After he asked me on the date and I said we needed to get to know each other he asked me a ton of questions about myself. I asked him questions too but he only answered about half of them.
"Yeah, but he seems pretty nice so far, he said he was just in a bad mood that day." I shrug.
"Just be careful and text me if anything happens- wait no call the police if anything happens and then text me when you're safe." I laugh and look at the clock to check the time.
"Excited are we? You've checked the clock like 50 times since you got here." She smiles at me before continuing, "I'm glad you're going out though, you haven't gone on a date since I've met you and that was like forever ago."
"Yeah yeah whatever. I guess you're right though I am a little excited. At first I didn't really think he was my type because he looks so... uptight I guess? But I actually kind of had fun with him."
"Had fun spending his money you mean?" She smirks at me.
I roll my eyes and shake my head, "No... okay yes that is a perk but also I don't know he's just interested in me and I don't even remember the last time a guy asked me about myself. I guess I just want to see where this goes."
She smiles at me and tells me she's happy for me before we finish our shift.
Work passes by smoothly if you don't count all the wandering eyes and catcalls of middle aged men and I head home with a skip in my step.
I gave Daniel my number the other day and texted him my address so he could pick me up, which will be at 6. I have about an hour and a half to get ready which I think will be plenty of time.
I hope I look okay, I mean he'll probably be wearing a suit or something nice so I've gotta look nice too right? I decide on a silky green dress that goes about mid-thigh and put my hair in an updo. I add some eyeliner and mascara before I decide I look good enough.
Looking at the time, I realize I still have about half an hour left before he picks me up so I just scroll on my phone for a bit.
I finally hear the doorbell and run over to open it, spraying on some perfume I forgot to put on earlier on the way. I open the door to see him standing there in his dark grey suit, no tie this time though. I look at his hands to see him holding a large bouquet of white roses and a let out a small gasp at the sight of them.
