"And he just left after that?" Trish gawks at me in disbelief. We were sitting on my couch eating takeout when she finally asked me about the date.
"Yes! I have no clue what to think. I'm getting mixed signals from this guy, I mean, look at those flowers he brought me!" I motion to the white roses sitting on the kitchen countertop. "He went through all that work for a date and then left me stunned after the best kiss I've ever had in my entire life!" I sigh dramatically and shove a heap of noodles in my mouth.
"Maybe he got nervous?" She questions, though it's obvious she doesn't believe her own words.
"Nervous? Daniel? I mean maybe but come on, I just-" I get cut off by the sound of my phone chiming.
Trish and I still at the sound and her eyes widen. "Is that..?"
I shake my head and give her an 'I have no clue' look. I slowly lean over to check my phone and groan when I see it's just my mother.
I grab a pillow and shove my face in it. "Whtdididurong!" I scream, muffled by the pillow.
"I'm sorry but I have no clue what you just said." She tries to hide her laugh, but I can hear it creeping up.
I throw the pillow on the floor and frown at her. "What did I do wrong? I mean, I get that I was kind of a bitch at first but, like, I don't know, then I wasn't anymore? Then he left! Why?"
Trish rubs my back soothingly, trying to comfort me. "Come on let's watch one of those shitty rom-coms you like, we'll eat this takeout that will probably shorten our lifespan because of how unhealthy it is, and I stay the night?" She gives me a small smile and I nod, putting a blanket around my body.
"Okay, thank you." I force a smile. It's kind of her and I really appreciate it but I still feel so shitty.
"Of course." She grabs the remote to switch on a movie.

I wake up on the couch with Trish's feet on my lap and my face smushed between the couch cushions. Groaning, I sit up and look outside the window, noticing it's still dark out.
I frown and reach for my phone to check time when I see a text message from Daniel.
Oh my god.
Also it's like 3 in the morning.
But oh my god he texted me.
