"No no no, you're doing it wrong!" I laugh at Daniel's frustrated pout.
We're currently sitting on his couch and I'm trying to teach him how to play never have I ever. It is absolutely bewildering that he has never played this game before!
"You put a finger down if you have done it." Let's just say we haven't gotten very far in the game.
"Okay, okay I got it this time." He nods.
"Okay never have I ever been arrested." I say confidently. He doesn't put a finger down. "Been arrested, not charged with the crime." I clarify. He still doesn't put a finger down. "Okay fine, your turn."
"Never have I ever been caught lying." He says, and I put a finger down. "You're telling me no one has ever caught you in a lie?" I question in disbelief. "Nope." "Is that a lie?" He lowers his hands, and I follow is lead. There's a silence that follows my question for a few moments before he finally speaks.
"I would never lie to you, Kate." Well that was intense.
"That could be a lie for all I know." I retort. He studies my expression with an indescribable look on his face. "You can ask me anything you want, I will not lie to you, I will never lie to you."
It's times like these that have me absolutely speechless. He's perfect, don't get me wrong, he buys me gifts, he comforts me, he cooks for me and cleans for me, but there are moments like there where he's just so... intense. As much as I love how crazy he is about me, I'm not going to lie, it's kind of unsettling.
"Ask you anything? Anything I want?" I question, he nods in response. "You won't lie?" He nods again.
"Um... okay, I'll start off easy. What's your relationship with your family like?"
"My brother and I are close, he's actually the only family I've got. I had a great relationship with my parents, they were kind and fair, they passed away a few years ago though."
"Oh Daniel I'm-" he cut my apology off with a wave of his hand and I take it as a gesture to continue asking questions.
"All right... next question then, how do you feel about me?" I really want to know the answer to this. I'm scared to hear his answer, in all honesty, but I can't help but be curious. There's no guarantee that he'll be truthful, but I'll take his word on it.
"I think you're absolutely breathtaking Kate. Not just your beauty, but your soul. I envy how you perceive things Kate, and I wish I could know what goes on in that pretty head of yours all the time. I worry what you will think of me sometimes, what you would say if you saw all of my flaws and imperfections, but part of me- a big part of me, doesn't think you'd mind, you're just that perfect. You have so much power over me and you don't even know it, you don't even realize how you have me completely and utterly entranced."
