I'm back with the next chapter~

So, the second chapter starts by establishing that Arty boy will do anything to achieve his goal.

And I noticed something interesting. In the past chapters, whenever I was talking about Artemis, I would say that Artemis was willing to do whatever it took to achieve his goals. And I almost always specifically used the phrase "achieve his goals," which is the part I find interesting.

In the book, the second chapter starts like this" "BY now, you must have guessed just how far Artemis Fowl was prepared to go in order to achieve his goal."

I've never read that sentence before, until now, and I have never come across anyone who worded it as "achieve his goal(s)." That's because I've seen people word it differently. I just think that it's a neat coincidence that I used the same terminology that Mr. Colfer used in his book.

But enough about that now.

The chapter also explains that Artemis is after gold, though it's not explained why (but I already know why). It also talks about Arty's descent down the arcane rabbit hole, and more importantly, his finding of the existence of the People.

And once again, I'm in awe of the fact that Artemis, while having a so called "childlike belief in magic," also is keen on exploiting the fairies' magical gold.

Also, what is magical gold? More specifically, what makes it different from regular gold?

And can I have some?

Of course, Angeline Fowl (Arty's mother) was introduced in this chapter, and I CANNOT begin to describe to you how happy I was with it.

Don't get me wrong-

It's horrid that she's bedridden and in terrible condition, but at least she's alive.

In the movie, she doesn't even exist.

Oh, and Juliet's introduced too!

All you Juliet fans best be whooping and hollering-

Also, Arty's this cold and uncaring kid who gradually has character development throughout the series, but it seems to me that he actually is rather soft. I think it's because of how openly he worries about his mother, seems to respect Juliet, and has a good relationship with Butler.

I think it's safe to mention that I really feel for Angeline. Like it's honestly heartbreaking to me how one second, she recognizes Artemis, but the next, she treats him so coldly because she doesn't recognize him.

It's just so incredibly sad.

Also, the book said, and I quote, "It was a traditional enough room - dark oak and floor-to-ceiling shelving - but Artemis had jammed it with the latest computer technology. A series of networked AppleMacs whirred from various corners of the room."

This to me is funny because AppleMacs were popular a long time ago (at least it seems like a long time ago to all the youngins I know). This just further reminds me of how long ago this book was written, and not gonna lie, but it's got me feeling old-

So, in the last chapter, miathemint let me know that there is in fact not a new code in each page, but rather the same ones repeating.

Not gonna lie, but I was very disappointed with that new.

Furthermore, they let me know that while the codes to simply keep repeating, the length of the code in and of itself is rather lengthy.

At least there's that!

But anywho, here's the continuation of the decoded messages at the bottom:

Pg. 18 - him along. When the repo

Pg. 19 - rters had finished

Pg. 20 - asking their questio

Pg. 21 - ns Artemis raised his

Pg. 22 - hand. The mayor allowed

Pg. 23 - the small boy to ask

Pg. 24 - his question expecting

Pg. 25 - something simple and chi

Pg. 26 - ldlike. Instead Artemis

Pg. 27 - asked him to name three

Pg. 28 - kinda of butterfly.

Pg. 29 - When the mayor could not

Pg. 30 - answer Artemis stood on

Here is the decoded bit together:

him along. When the reporters had finished asking their questions Artemis raised his hand. The mayor allowed the small boy to ask his question expecting something simple and childlike. Instead Artemis asked him to name three kinds of butterfly. When the mayor could not answer Artemis stood on

That's all there is to decode in this chapter! Chapter 3 will be out soon~

And with that, I close the 2nd chapter of the book!

See you all very soon!
