It's worth finding out what the trick is, and it's that simple.
"Prestige."
The morning began as usual... The brunette got up quietly so as not to wake his wife and headed for the exit. After doing his water procedures, he dialed his father's number.
- Not a year has passed since you deigned to call me Edie... - his father's voice was heard.
- Hello," he leaned against the railing of the veranda and breathed in the morning air.
- What made you call me? You sure you didn't want to know how I was doing...
- Vivian's doing your job? - Remembering the Italian woman again, Ed began. His father was well aware of his son's relationship, and most of all he remembered Signor Lamberdi's daughter, sometimes Edmund had thoughts that Vivian was in an amorous relationship with his father as well, for Oswald really behaved very strangely...
- Well, let's not, you were glad to see her and don't lie to me or yourself.
- Why? You knew I was going there with my wife.
- Edie, you're lying again, Joanna isn't your wife, it's a formality, a month from now you'll be divorced and it'll be over.
- You can't do that. If I didn't feel anything for her, I wouldn't get married.
- That's what you say now; once you've tasted her innocent body, all the thoughts disappear in your head and new ones appear, and it's about other girls.
- You're wrong.
- I'm very right, son. Men are made that way, they are hunters and believe me when they catch the prey, they start hunting for another one, as soon as you feel Joanna's juvenile body you will immediately find a replacement for her.
- I don't like what you're saying.
- The truth always sounds harsh, but you have to accept the fact that eating the same food every day is starting to make you gag.
- I hear you, but, that's not why I'm calling.
- I wonder...
- I'm going to fly back home tomorrow.
- Why is that?
- I have nothing to do here and I don't want to traumatize Joanna, we've had enough for a couple of days.
- Well, I can't keep you.
- How's work going?
- Anthony's outdone himself, he's upped his stock and now the company's getting five percent more, I didn't expect that from him.
- I told you he was a smart guy.
- You were right, I can't argue with that.
- Just don't tell anybody I'm coming.
- If you say so.
- Thanks, I'll see you then. - I said and hung up.
I flew home for one purpose, it was to find out the truth that troubled me, I had a hunch why my father had signed the contract with Mr. Morris, but I did not fully understand why he did it? After all, we both know that no profit came to us from it....
On behalf of Joanna:
I woke up and found no Edmund beside me, getting out of bed and putting on my dress, which was half torn, which of course embarrassed me and had to get a towel from the closet and wrap myself in it, I left the room and went into the living room where I had left my suitcases yesterday, I sat on the floor and began to sort things so that at least I would not be naked.
