The Mysterious Side

Game night part 2

I clear my throat and take a slow breath in before finally speaking, "Just don't fucking laugh or I will smack you with my 40 pound book!" I say, glaring at the others that I haven't spoken to yet. "Kiddo, I'm so proud of you for not resorting to violence!!" Patton says as he pulls me into a hug and I hug him back as I am extremely touch starved.

"Also, language" he glared at me, "English" I say smirking like a smartass. The emo was proud of me and Patton was taken aback by my smartass comment, "Good job, K!!" Is what my brother said, "Thank you, brother" we decided to play uno and the door burst open with my youngest brother, Remy, and his boyfriend, Emile. "DID SOMEONE SAY UNO?!?" Remy had screamed with an ungodly amount of coffee for all of us plus extra, there were about 64 cups of different type coffee and we got 8 cups each. And we let them pick a spot to sit and play as we take some coffee.

I was winning as always, they know to not play uno with me unless they have to, Virgil and Remy were close behind me at winning. I had 2 cards, Virgil had 4 and Remy had 5, everyone else had over 15-20 cards. We all had fun, of course, but some rage and bonding had been created and "UNO!" I slammed my card down and I could tell that I couldn't lose because my last card was a wild card. Everyone had to draw a bunch of cards, thank Irene we had an infinite deck of cards, and it was my turn next so I placed my last card, "Uno out" everyone groaned, we have been playing for a few hours and it's 4:00 pm already. "What do we play next? And don't even try to say 'rematch' for fucking uno!" They seemed to be intimidated by my voice, Patton had an idea and picked a random board game that the darks didn't know how to play, apparently it's a favorite among the lights.

So we finished playing that and I got up to get another coffee as it was my fourth cup that I had already gone through in only 3 hours since Remy had showed up. I took a sip before closing the cabinet that had the coffee stash in it. I turn around to see my shadow self, leaning against the wall beside the doorway so the others don't see them. "What do you want, Kage?" I spoke quietly but kindly, "I just wanted to see what you've been doing these past few days as you haven't been talking to me much anymore..." They mumbled but I could clearly make it out, "Aww, did you get lonely?? You're just like a child, y'know that?" They got embarrassed, went a bit red, and vanished to where only I can see them but everyone can hear them, if you listen for them. "You okay, kiddo?" I automatically recognized the voice of Patton, "I'm alright, Papa, just got distracted!" I half lied to Pat, which I regret every bit of it but they can't know of that ability yet, nevertheless, I go and sit and play the game that Emile had picked out for us all to play.

As soon as it hit 11:54 we helped Patton put away the games and went to our assigned rooms to sleep but since I didn't have one, I got to sleep with either Virgil or Patton but they usually stay in the same room to sleep anyway. They decided on my brother's room so we all go to his room and I flop onto his futon mattress as they change and lay down and I go to change so I rummage through his closet and chose a super oversized hoodie of his and go to the connected bathroom in his room. I didn't notice that it was the hoodie I got him for his 14th birthday and at that time, he liked oversized hoodies. I'm surprised that he actually kept it. It went down to my knees since I'm only 5'6. When I took out my ear plugs and piercings, I set them in a box that Virgil got for me. I grabbed a make-up wipe and wiped off my eyeshadow and lip gloss, and walked out of the bathroom, and laid down on the mattress, and let everything go to a peaceful black.

I woke up from a nightmare, panting. I calmed down mostly and checked the time, 2:15am. I cursed under my breath. I reluctantly got up and quietly exited my brother's room and headed to the kitchen. I grab a glass and fill it with water and walk over to the bookcase and grab a book. I sat down on the, surprisingly, comfy couch, 'I thought it wouldn't be this comfy but this is the mindscape after all' I thought to myself. I stayed in the living room, even after I finished my book, I didn't notice that I started to sing but I honestly didn't care.

I was singing the song 'Injustice by CG5' and my abilities started making an illusion as they act upon themselves when I sing. "(Paint the blue skies red) Injustice I'll repay" I hummed the melody as I sang the lyrics. "You're an amazing singer!" A soft voice said behind me, I gasp and turn around as the illusion bursts away and there's floating sparkles around me. I spotted the person in the doorway of the living quarters,leaning against the archway. "Roman?! How long have you been spying on me...?" I gave him half a death glare. "Woah, chill, man, I just gave you a compliment..." He held his hands up where I could see, "You didn't answer my question, dude" I softened my look a little, seeing as he was bothered by something. "Well, I just woke up and I was getting water, but got distracted by your beautiful singing..!" That's an obvious lie, "Come 'ere, Romano" I pat the spot beside me on the couch. "Wha-" "Come sit beside me before I change my mind..!" He quickly sat by me, confused.

After a little while of silence, I ask him the question that has been bothering me, "So.. why are you actually awake?" I look over toward him as he tries to hide his emotions, "I've already told you, r-remember?" He said quickly, "Y'know, you're a terrible liar, Romano, can you tell me what's bothering you?" He looked frantic, trying to come up with an excuse to not talk about it. I pulled him into a comforting hug, "W-what are y-you doing?!" I say one thing, "Let it out, Roman" I say softly as he grips the hoodie that I have on. He cries his heart out as I comfort him. After 15 minutes, I'm able to calm him down completely but we don't leave the hug as it was nice. "Are you ready to talk about it?"
