*EDDIE'S POV:

Three days without any sleep whatsoever takes an obvious toll on someone. The exhaustion is brutal, but every single time my eyes close for more than a minute, tormenting nightmares appear. Each time it's an uncontrollable situation, the next worse than before. Audy has been present in a lot of them, too, screaming and begging for no apparent reason. A boyfriend's instinct is to help his girlfriend, but it's difficult when the source of distress is never found. I wake up ill, sweaty, and petrified.

Although, today's the day Audy's spending the night. The bubbly and energetic being is sure to keep one up and about. She's quite the night owl during the summer.

A summer storm was brewing once again, with crackling thunder and bright bolts included. I insisted on picking her up from her house so she'd be at less of a driving risk. I called out to my parents, telling them I was headed out and would be back safe and soon. The drive itself wasn't so bad yet. The honk of the car horn was to make her aware of my arrival, but either way, I still got out to meet her at the door, which was thankfully covered by a little overhang. A small overnight bag slung itself over her shoulder as she opened the door and adjusted her ball cap. We grabbed hands and laughed as we ran to the haven of my car. I drove us back to my house as the rain poured harder.

"Are you cold?" I asked, noticing the girl hugging herself on the bed.

"Maybe," she chattered.

"Change into your pajamas and get comfy. We obviously aren't going anywhere." I shrugged.

"Can I steal a hoodie?" she whispered, already raiding my closet.

"It wouldn't be the first time." I chuckled. I went to the kitchen to look for food while she changed. A frozen pizza sounded good. I heard Audy coming downstairs with my aunt and laughing, so I turned to their direction and waved the pizza box in the air. They nodded. As the pizza baked in the oven, we all chatted until the timer screeched. My aunt took her plate to the office space, leaving the two of us to have the living room. Audy poured more hot chocolate while I threw pillows on the floor and grabbed a blanket.

"Why are we watching SpongeBob?" she asked, sitting across from me.

"Because I couldn't find the remote," I answered.

Nearly ten minutes later, Luna finished her drink and shot up like a rocket. "Let's build a fort."

A slight laugh escaped my throat. The child in that girl was as spontaneous as a jack-in-the-box. I was encouraged to follow her around, doing everything she said to do, which ended in a pretty nifty looking construct. I grabbed flashlights from the basement while she shifted more pillows around. It was only, what, 8:13 pm, but it was still dark outside from the storm.

"Well," I started, raising her chin up with my finger, "What shall we ever do now?"

I leaned in slowly for a kiss, tilting my head to meet her mouth. She kissed back graciously, her dainty hands gently caressing the sides of my face. Hands made their way to her lower back, supporting the straddle of my lap. Things were so caught up in the moment that we didn't even notice that the front door opened and my uncle yelled of his return. We pulled away from each other.

I saw his feet walk into the kitchen. "You two better be clothed under there."

"Hi, Wayne!" Audy boasted as she poked her head out from the tent.

"Hey, Luna, how you doing?" he asked.

"I'm doing great, thanks. You? Did you make it home alright?"

"It was tough but I managed, thank you."
