Your characters are one of the most important part of your story. They're the executors of your plan for your book. They have the power. They can do anything, go anywhere.
So you have to know your characters. You can't have their personality be ever-changing. You can't have their appearance ever-changing. You have to keep it consistent, unless there's a gradual shift, because of character development.
So. To help you with that, I made a checklist. Because you have to know your characters. And you might want to write this down on a piece of paper for future reference. Because you have to stick with it.
And I'm going to stop right there because it was going to turn into a paraphrased copy of the paragraph right before that.

Hair length: (This can change throughout your book, depending how long it is. The book, I mean. But remember: hair grows about six inches a year, so don't change it too drastically, unless they're cutting it.)
Eye color: (Remember, keep this consistent. If you make them dark brown, then keep them that way, instead of changing them to blue or something.)

Contacts:
Eye sight:
Skin color:
Body hair:
Body type:

Flexibility capabilities:

How old they appear:

The reasoning behind their name: (Most people just pick random names that they like, but maybe you can take it a step forward and look up the meaning, origin, and all that stuff, so it can hold some easter eggs or something.)

Daredevil or cautious:

What would break them:
Okay, there was some stuff that wasn't as important as the others, but I'm not going to tell you which ones because who knows? They might actually be helpful sometime.
