It had been six months since the farm had gotten overrun, and the group still hadn't found a safe place to stay.

They moved from abandoned house to abandoned house, but only for as long as the Walkers didn't find them—which was a day or two at most. But instead of fighting their undead pursuers, they ran. They snuck out of the houses and made a run for it to not use their limited ammunition.

The nights were long and quiet. And most of the time, Robin didn't sleep much. Her mind was always alert, ready to command her body to fight if she needed to. Therefore, unwanted thoughts had enough opportunities to find their way into her mind and torture her to sleep.

Tonight was no different. While the sound of Daryl's heavy breaths and the occasional shuffling of Lori's body as she tossed and turned in her sleep filled the air, Robin lay on her side, covered in Daryl's poncho, with her eyes wide open. Still, she didn't see much aside from the outlines of all the furniture they had pushed to the walls of the room earlier to create enough space in the center for all of them to sleep there.

Robin didn't even dare to think about all the spiders and other insects that crawled inside the long-abandoned objects. A shiver ran down her spine and she closed her eyes as she wiggled her hips to shuffle away from the images of horrifying, undead spiders which formed in her mind. Behind her, Daryl grunted in his sleep and turned to face her.

The space between them had gotten less and less every night for the past few months. It had started out with the two of them sleeping on opposite sides of the group, but eventually, they had ended up beside each other. And the closer Daryl got, the more her nightmares blurred and started to turn into something worth dreaming of.

Just last night, she had dreamed of a life that she could've had. One where her parents loved her and where James hadn't called the cops on her. It kept her thinking about him the entire day, and even now, she couldn't tear her thoughts away from James—from how sweet he had been when they had first met.
