“Please, Wisdom. Let’s meet in a coffee shop.”

Richard’s text message prompts her to wake up early at six in the morning. Denver was still sleeping tightly—his bare chest facing her.

She too was naked. Her breasts and her cave were swollen due to his rough taking last night. Wisdom hasn’t enjoyed much as she was busy tending her emotions and her thoughts of her being a paid—

‘Cut it out, Wisdom!’ She scolded herself. ‘Just do this job well and he will also reward you well.’

She went to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. Wisdom then took a nice, warm bath at the shower. She was about to wear a plain t-shirt and blue jeans when her eyes suddenly caught that cobalt blue dress.

‘It’s not so bad to wear a revealing dress,’ she thought to herself.

Since the coffee shop is just a few walking distance to the condo, Wisdom decided to walk there—all by herself.

People kept staring at her, men and women alike. ‘It’s not so bad to wear this early in the morning anyway…’

But she was wrong. Especially when she saw the surprised look on Richard’s face when he saw her.

“How long have you been here, Richard?” She asked upon reaching his table.

“Why are you wearing that dress early in the morning?”

“Answer me first,” she insisted.

“Ten minutes ago. I brought you breakfast from The Pancake House.” Richard gestured to her to sit in front of him.

“I also ordered coffee for you,” he added.

“You don’t need to be such a nice man, Richard.”

He looked at her with arched brows. “Why? Is it too bad to be nice to my ex-wife?”

She rolled her eyes. “No. It just annoys me, you know. I’ve been used to the fact that you—and Francine—are both the definition of rude and heartless.”

He just gave her a bland smile in return.

“Why are you smiling?” She asked.

“In speaking with Francine, we broke up.”

Silence was deafening. Richard just casually sip his coffee and looked at the passers-by walking by the glass window.

“What does it have to do with me?” She returned his bland smile as well.

Seriousness flooded his face and the smile vanished in an instant. “I want to make things good with you.”

Wisdom rolled her eyes again, as if it’s her habit when she hears unbelievable words—especially one that’s from a man that she used to hate very, very, very much.

“I will never be a jerk to you again,” he declared.

“How?” Wisdom has given him a challenging look.

“I am leaving. This week. In Amsterdam to start a new life.”

“With whom?” She took a bite from her blueberry pancake.

“With myself. I figured out that I just need to be alone in order to recognize that people actually don't give a shit about me. I thought they all care for me. I was wrong—utterly wrong”

“You’re right,” She placed a hand atop his. “But, will you be alright?” He looked at her face and it stopped when his gaze slid into her breasts that were about to pop out from her blue dress.

“I guess…ever since we’ve been apart, my life has been hell—literally. From Francine’s natural despicable attitude to her bringing two men and fucking them in front of me.” He paused to inhale, switching his body to face her fully. “And the fact that you are now with another man is…”

He stopped to brush the tears that had already flowed down from his eyes. Wisdom expected him to finish his words but he just stood and went towards her. And then he hugged her.

Not a romantic one but a genuine, friendly hug. Like a hug from a person that had been guilty for leaving you and will give you peace by leaving you further as well.

“I was actually about to invite you to me and Denver’s wedding.” That was a lie from Wisdom’s lips. She wasn’t even sure if Denver would really wed her in front of many people as she didn’t read it in the contract before she signed—and she didn’t read the contract properly, to be honest.

Nevertheless, if Richard will say yes, then she will just tell Denver to invite her. She guessed that maybe he wouldn’t mind inviting an ex-husband into this wedding. Maybe.

“No,” Richard firmly answered. “You must forget about me, Wisdom.” He said as he tightened his grip into her hand, both hands locked with each other.

“I will not lie. I have indeed cared for you—loved you. But my desire to be wealthy and engulfed in luxury surpasses that emotion…”

“Then that is not love, Richard. It is just a thought that you loved me, but in fact your love lies with money and wealth. Maybe power as well.”

Richard nodded. “I know. And when I saw you kissing him… when I found out that the man that you are soon to be bound with is far more richer than any man in this city… my world crashed, as if guilt had devoured me entirely. I guess I should never let you go then. But it’s still good that I’ve let you go. Because if I didn’t, then—”

“Then I will not meet Denver,” she finished his sentence.

“Yes,” Richard Weisz nodded. “Yes, Linnea. And if it may be…”

He looked at her, with emotions that Wisdom cannot fathom. And in a blink, he brushed his lips to her. Quick and in a matter of seconds. She couldn’t tell if it was friendly or loving or whatever. It’s. Just. A. Kiss. From Richard Weisz.

He let go of her lips and cupped his face. She could feel his shaking rough palms on her cheeks, “Don’t ever use Weisz anymore. You are now back with your maiden name. Wisdom Linnea Calvin, I am now letting you go.”

She saw it. She saw the pool of tears that escaped from the windows of his soul. After watching him leave the comfort room, he just flashed her a smile. Then he left.

Wisdom inhaled and exhaled when she saw a piece of paper under the utensils. It was a note from Richard. She then read with her eyes on what it says:

Thank you for the days that you made me your husband.

I will never get over you. And I know that, as long as I live, I will no longer meet a woman like you Wisdom. You are a woman of wisdom, beauty, intelligence, and respect. Because of that, you will be the first and last woman that I will proudly call my wife.

Hence, I am now single. From this moment, to the time I lay into my grave. I hope that… that if ever you heard of my end, you will come and visit me. And lay this note that I left you atop my grave. I hope so.

With love,

Richard

It was Wisdom’s turn to release the waters from her eyes. It is until now that she realizes that there is good in everybody. That Richard wasn’t always evil as he is. He was just blinded by desire and greed.

“I will, Richard. I will,” she muttered.
