LAYLA: I'll see you guys next time

Layla said as she waved goodbye to the last group of customers with a smile. Gathering the plates from the table, she was then stopped by one of her coworkers

TONY: Here, let me help you with that. You should be heading home in a few minutes, right?

He asked, taking the plates from her as he did so. Tony was an older gentleman in his late seventies, who had shown Layla the ropes back when she first started working here. He was a kind old man with a heart of gold

LAYLA: I appreciate it, Tony. Thank you

TONY: Don't mention it.

Layla smiled

LAYLA: It's tomorrow

TONY: Hmm? What is darling?

LAYLA: Me and Lee's anniversary

TONY: Ah! That's right, you did tell me about it. Forgive me, old age and all. So what's the plan, doing anything special?

LAYLA: Not that I know of, actually. Lee's usually really busy with work, which means I'm usually at home with our kid

TONY: Let's see... um, okay, have you thought about anything Lee might like?

Layla blushed profusely as her mind wandered to the new pair of lingerie she'd purchased. She then pulled herself out of her own perverted thoughts and began to ponder on what Lee actually wanted. It didn't take her long, though. There was only one thing Lee's been wanting for a while...

LAYLA: Another baby

TONY: O-oh!

LAYLA: I was thinking out loud! Forget what I said!

TONY: No, that's great! Kids are a blessing young lady. People in this generation look at children as more of a burden, but I don't think I need to explain why they're not. You never forget that feeling the first time you hold you hold your first child...

LAYLA: It was pretty magical. Lee was so happy. He literally couldn't stop smiling as he held Shawn for the first time. He was so scared *Giggle* I remember how he looked at me and went, "You hold him baby, he's so small I don't want to hurt him."

She smiled somewhat solemnly

LAYLA: I'd love to give Lee more children, but he's barely home to spend time with the one he's got already...

Tony nodded in understanding before he spoke

TONY: My wife blessed with five beautiful children. Almost all of them were girls, except for the last one. If I may offer a bit of insight?

Layla nodded, taking the moment to learn from her elder

TONY: Don't get me wrong, the first child is always something special, but for us men, it's different. Our family is our pride. We want it to grow as much as possible. I'm not gonna sit here and tell what to do, though I'd recommend talking more with your husband about it. From what I've heard, that Lee fellow has a nice head on his shoulders, I'm sure he's got something planned. So, meeting him halfway. it might be the best anniversary gift you could ever give...

Having said his piece, the man bid Layla a farewell before returning to the kitchen to help with his own closing duties. Layla stood there for a moment to mull over the old man's words. She smiled before grabbing up her purse and heading out the door. Layla stepped out into the cool evening air, her mind buzzing with thoughts of her anniversary and the conversation with Tony. As she walked to her car, she couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of hope. Maybe there was a way to meet Lee halfway and make their anniversary truly special
