It's hard to get off from a very warm and cosy bed. The sheets felt soft under Earth's skin, silk was comforting, and it made you feel safe. But Earth is sure that being wrapped in silk sheets isn't the cause of this sense of safety but instead it was the warm body comfortably laid on his. Mix's breathing was calm as Earth felt his breath upon his neck, his heart sounding steady and strong. Truth be told, Earth's arm had fallen asleep a while ago and was now starting to ache. But he would rather be damned before even considering moving Mix's body. His skin was soft and his hair as Earth grazed his fingers through it was almost lulling him back to sleep were it not for the sound of the alarm clock on Mix's bedside cabinet going off.
The alarm clock read half past six in the morning which considering Earth's usual waking time was late. "Would you please turn that damn thing off before I break it" Mix whined, his voice unused and still sleep-filled. Earth doing as told for fear of Mix truly leaving his side to get up.
The beeping once silenced, made Mix snuggle more into Earth's chest sighing in satisfaction.
" I feel like I want to stay here, at this moment, in this room for eternity", Mix whispered into Earth's chest, the latter's hum felt against Mix's cheek. "Logically that would be impossible" Earth quipped. He feigned hurt as Mix gently pinched his ear but really it was just a graze of fingers.
"But really, when all this is over, is there someplace you want to go?" Mix asked.
"What do you mean?"
" As in, is there someplace you want to go, someplace you like where you can get away from all of this once it's over?".
When Earth didn't answer immediately, Mix raised his head from Earth's chest using his hands to lift himself up and look into Earth's eyes. Mix used to think that Earth's eyes looked sad when he first met him in his office. It felt like a long time since that day, but it was only a couple of weeks. A lot can happen in a short amount of time.
"The beach" Earth answered, his eyes weren't sad Mix thought, they looked hopeful and there was a certain wonder in them.
"Why the beach?" Mix asked.
" My mother used to take me there, she didn't know how to swim so she always wanted me to stay as close to the shore as possible. But I loved it. The feel of the water as I swam as far as I could without her scolding me. She looked happy there and in turn, so was I". The air in which Earth said this was of someone remembering of a long time past, nostalgia you would call it.
"So after all this is over you will go to the beach," Mix said, by now he was tracing lightly upon Earth's chest. The silk sheets and the roses on the cabinet are the only witnesses to them.
"Yes, I want to go to the beach again. It's been a long time".
"Can I come with you?" Mix asked, this time shy as he looked at Earth.
The way he spoke about his memory was deep and full of emotion. Mix was scared that perhaps he would tint this memory that Earth looked like he cherished.
"I took it for granted that you would come with me" Earth answered.
He stopped the movement of Mix's hand on his chest, bringing it to his lip and giving it a kiss. "When all of this is over, let's go to the beach" Earth whispered between them unable to hold in his smile at Mix's face. Mix was always bright and shining, it's hard to not feel warm when Mix smiled.
"It's a promise," Mix said between them.
He couldn't hold it any longer. It felt too long since he last kissed Earth and he couldn't have that, bringing them together and connecting their lips.
