"What exactly are we supposed to be looking for in this shithole?" I groan as I exit my car. Max exits my passenger side and looks up at the building. The house looks exactly like the one in Max's drawing. It's faded and broken down-very uninviting.
If there was any house that would be haunted in Hawkins, it would be this one. It's clearly been untouched for years.
You know how stupid people are in horror movies? They go to investigate the scream, or the sound in the basement? That's what this feels like. Nothing good can come out of this.
"We just know it's important to Vecna."
"Cause Max saw it in Vecna's red soup mind world?"
"Yep."
"Great." I huff. I walk to the steps and join the others looking up at the house.
"Maybe it holds a clue to where Vecna is." Dustin suggests. "Why he's back, why he killed the creels."
"And how to stop him before he comes back for Max." I add. I sigh, and push past, being the first to make my way towards the house.
"Wait... we don't think he's in here do we?" Lucas stutters.
"Guess we'll find out." Steve shrugs.
"Cmon. Don't be scared to go into the creepy old murder house." I motion with my hand for them to join me. Max steps forward first, and the rest of them follow behind.
This is literally how people die in horror movies.
We walk up to the front porch to a faded glass stained door.
"That's the one from my drawing." Max inhales deeply.
"How do we get in?" Dustin sighs, motioning to the door.
"I found a key." Robin lifts her hand, and slams a rock against the window, the glass shattering. She clears the glass and puts her arm through the hole and leans over the frame, unlocking the door. The door swings open with an unpleasant creaking sound, and I flinch. Nothing like some good old breaking and entering. I'm sure no one will notice anyway.
I step inside first, coughing as I inhale dust and god knows what else. As expected, the house is completely dark, but not empty. It's like someone just up and left. They probably did.
"Looks like someone forgot to pay their electric bill." Lucas jokes without humor. I pull the flashlight out of my bag and flick it on, the others doing the same. I look around and cough again, trying not to think about Al the dust I'm inhaling.
"Where'd everyone get those?" Steve asks confused. I turn towards Steve dumbfounded, and Dustin sighs, clearly annoyed.
"Do you need to be told everything?" Dustin scoffs. "You're not a child." He turns his back to Steve and continues to look.
I walk over to examine the pictures on the wall, and then looking around the room some more.
"It's like they left everything." Nancy murmurs.
"I guess triple homicide isn't good for resale value." Another humorless joke.
"Hey guys..?" Max's cautious voice catches my attention immediately, and I head over to her. Her flashlight is on a tall grandfather clock, unmoving. "You all see that right?" She asks. I nod.
