I had never really thought about my mate or mates. All I had ever thought about was the fact I was to be the next alpha of our pack and I needed to be a good one. I didn't have anything against my mate, mates but the fact that they were alpha's themselves and there were seven of them worried me slightly. I would have been slightly less on edge if I had one alpha mate, maybe even two considering the circumstances, but seven?
It's impossible to have seven mates, surely.
The seven men continued to stare at me with a look in their eyes that I couldn't describe. I was struggling to keep myself under control with my inner wolf banging to meet her mates. It was as if I was being consumed by something entirely bigger than myself.
"Mama, I know what those smells were. It's my mates and their the bloody alpha's, it's impossible to have seven mates!" I explained to my mother when we both stopped at a quiet corner while my dad got us drinks. I knew I was in denial over the matter, I was lost and confused.
I obviously had never experienced this before, but knowing that I had seven mates across from me staring holes in to my body was unsettling. It was nerve-racking.
They were all good looking; I have to admit that, seriously good looking.
"I knew when you explained the smells what was happening sweetheart and it is possible! Look at you, a witch and a wolf from two alpha parents, your special dear." Mom chirped happily, glancing to the seven alpha's who were mostly talking to guests.
One kept his eyes on me the entire time as if he were afraid, I'd disappear. I can't go very far anyways; I live right next door. But his stare was intense, almost intimidating. I felt small compared to him and I hated it, I was supposed to be a future alpha, I couldn't let anyone make me feel small. Especially my own mate.
I hadn't known what came over me, I felt my eyes turn yellow a low growl bubbling in the back of my throat. He was my mate, and yet I stared him down letting off a warning. My alpha side didn't like feeling small, boxed in. She was warning him to back off, but he seemed amused more than anything.
"The moon goddess sure knows how to confuse someone, but what do I even do now?" I asked, anxious about this entire situation.
Mates are supposed to come naturally but right now I don't feel to natural about approaching them. But I knew even if I didn't, they'd come after me, well one would.
He was practically staring hole's in to the side of my head.
"What are we talking about?" Dad asked as he came back with three glasses of punch, the adult kind.
"Mira found her mates, she has seven and they're the alpha's of the new pack in town." Mom beamed, spilling the beans immediately. Of course she couldn't wait to blurt it right out, the whole village would know by the time tonight was over.
And here I thought we were having a mother daughter chat but apparently, it's the whole family.
"Seven?! You are going to have seven husband's!" Dad gasped dramatically, looking directly to the boys. I hissed, nudging him in the ribs. They could already hear us, they didn't need to see us to.
"Looks like it now will you stop staring, they have ears." I snapped, turning my father so he wouldn't continue drooling over them. You'd think they were his mate's.
"Darling just go up to them, they already know what you are to them." Mom smiled, encouraging me to go.
She was making it sound so easy but it was overwhelming, it was becoming to much. I felt boxed in and rushed, unprepared. Growing up I had few conversations about my mates, and most I never paid much mind to. Yet here I was with seven of my mates, and I couldn't find the courage to go up to them now.
