Edan wished she was anywhere else but there. She had assumed after their conversation the day prior she was in the clear and would not need to tell George who the other man was. Now it seemed impossible to. It had always been difficult for Edan to lie to George as well as Fred. "Well.. yes. It's more of a silly crush though George."

"Was Alicia right? Did he turn you down?"

"No!" Edan blurted out. "I've never told him and I don't ever plan to."

"Because you don't think he fancies you back or because it's a silly school girl crush?" George questioned further.

Edan knew if she told the truth it would ruin what they shared. It was one thing for George to feel as though he was competing for her affections. It would be something else entirely if he thought she'd chosen him because she knew Severus would rebuff her affections. She spoke in a very even tone and made a point to keep eye contact with him to appear calm and honest. "It's a silly crush is all. We spend a lot of time together with my mentorship it just sort of happened one day. I never expected to feel any type of way towards him, nor do I expect to act on it."

George contemplated her words for a moment. "It's a little odd, Edy. Anytime you're with Snape all I'm going to think about it you fancying him."

"I'm getting over it though. Once I have to put up with his foul moods and snarky comments I'll definitely be back to finding him just as infuriating as I did last term." Edan reassured him. She had no idea if that was true but she hoped it would be the case. It would be best for multiple reason if she moved on from him. It would protect her from getting her feelings hurt as well as protect George's. "Where does this leave us?"

"I guess it leaves us in the same position we've been in. I don't want to give up so soon." George took Edan's hand in his and smiled at her. Edan leaned in to kiss him which he eagerly reciprocated. George attempted to deepen the kiss but Edan pulled away quickly. His attempt to make out with her made her slightly uncomfortable. It didn't give her the same feeling his pecks had provided. She chalked it up to the conversation they only just had about Severus claiming it was an odd time to make out. Edan stood up, took George's hand and led him out of the dormitory to join Fred in the common room.

This year was proving to be much more manageable than the last. Despite the depressed feeling that remained a dull background feeling she still had the mental capacity to keep up with her lessons. Hannah and Ernie invited her to join their study group multiple times but Edan declined each time. She could tell they were disappointed but thankfully they didn't give her any grief for rejecting them. Severus had her preparing example potions for first and second years, as well as providing them with pointer during lessons she was in attendance for. It was nice to offer them kind words and patience to counter Severus sarcastic short temper.

George and her had kissed on a number of occasions. Each time Edan tried to force herself to feel the same flutter she did on the Hogwarts Express last year as well as at Grimmauld Place. So far she had been unsuccessful. He was an excellent kisser but something didn't feel quite right about it. If they weren't compatible when it came to intimacy then a relationship is not possible. She kept her fingers crossed in hope that all they needed was time.

Edan was also thrilled she hadn't had a run in with Umbridge yet. She kept her head down in class. So far that was doing enough to keep Umbridge off her back. Hermione had informed Edan of the detentions Harry has had with that woman. Detention was something doubted she would ever experience with Umbridge. Any little mistake she made would give an excuse to have her expelled. Edan had also taken to placing a Muffiato charm on herself while walking through the corridors. This helped her avoid hearing what her classmates had to say about her.
