Over the course of the next few days Edan was required, along with the others who would be leaving for Hogwarts, to help clear out the house of all of the magical creatures that had taken up residence there. George and Edan had been instructed to remove 3 nests of dead Puffskeins from the living room. It was a fairly easy task that one of them could have handled on their own but they'd conned Molly into allowing them to work together.
They still hadn't discussed the kiss they had shared on the train home. Edan remembered the way she felt kissing George on the train frequently. She wanted it to happen again but how could she start a relationship with him? George hated Severus, as did most people, yet he would have to be around for Edan's sake. Edan wished that someone more well liked was her Silence or at least someone she could have a romantic future with.
"It's been months since we kissed. It hasn't seemed like something to talk about given everything that's going on. Perhaps we shouldn't ignore it forever though." George suddenly said, pinching a carcass between his gloved fingers and tossing it into a box.
"I suppose you're right." she mumbled in response.
George held himself up high and confident. "I enjoyed our kiss. I think about it all of the time. You have a lot going on and I don't know what's going on with you and Snape but I want to make sure you know I still fancy you."
Edan hesitated trying to find the right words. "There is nothing going on there. I will admit I don't really know where I stand with how I feel for you. I'm willing to try and figure it out together though, if you are?" It was the best she could do without revealing her secret pining for their potions professor. George was great, she loved George. Maybe instead of continuing to ignore his feelings she should embrace them. It was worth a try at least as long as he understood she wasn't positive they'd become an actual couple.
"I'm sure I can show you just how much you fancy me." George said with a giddy smile. He kissed Edan on the lips once again. There was a loud gasp causing the two to spring apart. Molly had wandered by the living room just in time to see their intimate display of affection. Edan gaped openly at her trying to find something to say. George scratched his head nervously. "When did this little thing start?" Molly asked.
Edan was glad she didn't look furious in the slightest. "You pretty much witnessed the start of it Mum." George shrugged..
Molly glanced between the pair of them. " Hmph.. I suppose George couldn't possibly do any better than you, Edan." Molly smiled at them then left the pair alone.
"Guess it's pretty much impossible for us to go on a date, isn't it?" George said, slightly disappointed.
It was true. They weren't permitted to leave headquarters, not even to retrieve their necessary school items for the year. Molly and Arthur had taken the liberty of going for them. "That's ok. We've been friends for ages. Is a date really necessary?"
"Typically people go on dates before beginning a relationship." George pointed out.
Edan rolled her eyes. "Let's go with the flow. See how things turn out naturally."
George nodded in agreement. "Wonder how Freddie is going to take the news."
Being back on the Hogwarts Express was bittersweet. Edan was excited to begin her final year but there was so much tension in the air. It would be nice to enjoy a final year of normalcy. "We're nearly finished boys!" She said excitedly as they entered a compartment together.
George sat directly beside Edan, their legs pressed against each other. She smiled at him. "Oi! Why are you cozying up next to each other?" Fred shouted.
