The rest of her lessons weren't nearly as disappointing as the first one. Professor McGonagall had already assigned a paper about the dangers that come with human transfiguration. It was a rather interesting lesson. Edan made considerable dents into the two assignments which allowed time to visit with Severus. As she made her way down to the classroom George happened to find her. Anxiety built up inside of her. To be perfectly honest she was avoiding him.

"What's going on Edy?" He said firmly as they walked.

Edan sighed and stopped. "I have feelings for you but I have feelings for someone else as well." She blurted out.

George remained silent as he stared down at her. "Well.. are you seeing him too?" Edan shook her head vigorously. She silently prayed he would not try to question who this other person was. "Then I don't see how this changes things for us."

"Really? You're okay with that?" Edan was shocked.

A grin spread across his face then he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Sure. I can compete with the best of them."

Edan giggled at his comment. "You're not competing with anyone Georgie." He leaned down and kissed her gently on the lips. His kiss made her heart beat faster with excitement. When he pulled away Edan picked up her walk once again.

George looked confused, hesitating a moment before walking after her. "Where are you heading? We can get some alone time before Fred comes along."

"Oh. I'm going down to assist Snape." Edan said.

He furrowed his brows at her response. Clearly he wasn't thrilled that she was passing up time with him to spend with Severus. "I'll see you later then." George said, kissing her on the cheek before turning around to walk from the direction they came.

Edan felt slightly better about her situation now. George accepted the fact that she fancied someone else yet he wanted to continue to see her. She was grateful George did not question her about this other person considering he hated Severus. There was no way he'd be nearly as understanding if that bit of information was revealed. Edan continued on with her walk to the potions classroom.

Severus was in his private stores taking inventory of the ingredients he needed to replenish when Edan arrived. He was in a rather crap mood which was made obvious when he scowled at her. "What do you need?" He snapped, turning back to his work.

She sighed deeply. Obviously he had not enjoyed the first day of term. That wasn't unusual for him but Edan was still disappointed at his tone with her. "I wanted to ask about the details of my mentorship." He ignored her as he continued with his work, his quill scratching quietly against the parchment in his hand. Edan waited patiently for him to finally answer but his reply did not come as the minutes passed. "Severus, are we continuing this year or not? We should set a schedule if we are so I have enough time for my N.E.W.T lessons and homework."

"And time for Mr Weasley I suspect." Severus finally grumbled in response.

This was the last thing she expected him to say. Why should he care about such a thing? "Well, not him exclusively. I'd like time to spend with all of my friends." Edan replied.

"From what I noticed in the Great Hall, it doesn't appear you and Mr Weasley are just friends."

Edan narrowed her eyes at Severus. He always had something to say about her relationship with Remus. It wasn't behavior she would like to continue with George now. "We're exploring a possible relationship. I haven't decided if it's something I want but he's perfectly fine with keeping things simple for now. Are we going to go through this again? Constant comments and snide remarks about my relationship?"
