**Harrys POV**
I walked along the main road, heading home to my flat. It was a cold winter night and although the wind blew gently it caused the temperature to drop a good amount of degrees. I pulled my hands out of my pockets to adjust my dark curls as I continued on. A few blocks later I stopped and turned onto the dark alley way that led to my house.
"Stop. Please."
I quickly stepped back around the corner, hidden from view, but continued to listen as i peered around the brick building to see what was going on. A tall, beefy male figure loomed over a smaller female who seemed to be trying to pull away from him. He had little hair and from what I could see through the dark and lot of tattoos on his thick arms. The man held her wrist tightly and i could see his finger nails digging into her arm. She struggled to pull away from him again but failed. Small whimpers of pain escaped her lips. He grabbed her second wrist and pulled her close to himself before turning quickly to slam her against the wall making her wince. She held her face turned away from him.
"You are worthless. I dont know why i even bother with you."He spoke to her through gritted teeth, spitting out words. She struggled to remove herself from his tight hold but he only slammed her against the wall. I saw the small figure raise her foot and bring it firmly down on his toes, giving her a few seconds to try to make an escape. She managed to get her arm free and turned away from him, attempting to run.
"You little-!"
The male stuck his arm out and roughly pulled the girl back by her hair causing her to let out a short scream in pain. He held up the back of his hand and hit her hard across the face, knocking her to the ground. I had had enough of watching this man hit who I assumed was his girlfriend. I finally stepped out from behind the wall and stormed towards him, stopping a few feet away.
"Hey!"
The girl now was on her knees clutching her hand to her face and sobbing. He loomed over her, preparing to inflict more pain to her tiny body but he stopped suddenly, looking up at me with a murderous glare.
"Get away from her."
I spat the words at the disgusting man. Who would hit a woman? He was a monster.
"And who are you?" He asked, a hint of joking in his voice. He still held his position over the girl, not stepping back.
"Step away from her. Or I will make you. "
I continued to stare him down as he looked over me. I had a tall, lean posture and although he was about the same height as me and probably had a small chance in a fight, he decided against any further actions and stepped away from the girl.
"Take her. She doesn't mean anything to me. Shes worthless." He looked down at her in disgust, "worthless."
He backed away from the crumpled figure below him and continued to hold my gaze before turning and making his way down the dimly lit street.
I slowly made my way over to the girl on the ground. As I knelt down next to her i could hear soft, broken sobs slipping from her mouth. I reached out to touch her shoulder, to show her that i was here, but she flinched away and scrambled backwards to get out of my reach.
"Don't touch me." She said in a firm tone.
She brought her hands up to her face, wiping away stray tears that continuously fell from her deep green eyes.
"Please, let me help you, I'm not going to hurt you."
She ran her fingers though her dark hair to clear her vision so she could get a proper look at me. Her eyes were red and the last few tears she had left threatened to spill out. She had her legs pulled up to her chest as she rested her back against a large trash bin. I watched her carefully and she watched me back, snowflakes landing on her long lashes. She was really quite beautiful minus the painful damages the man had marked her skin with. I sat squatted on the ground, waiting for her to say something until i finally broke the silence.
"Please?" I repeated in a pleading tone, only wanting to help.
I rose slowly, not leaving her gaze, and held out my hand for her to take. She stared at it, not being able to decide what to do before hesitantly setting her small hand on top of mine. I pulled her up gently, trying to be careful with her delicate figure. She winced slightly as she stood, stumbling back a little and I rushed forward to attempt to steady her.
"Are you alright?" I asked trying to look into her eyes, but she avoided my gaze.
"I-I'm fine... Just a little dizzy..."
I brought my hand up to her face, attempting to push back the dark brown locks that hid it from me but she tilted her head away from my touch. I could faintly see the dark bruises that were beginning to form on her skin, the swollen lip that was stained in her own blood.
"Why...Why did he do this to you..?" I asked hesitantly.
She met my eyes with her own before her brow came together in a frown. There was a long pause before she finally tried to speak.
"I.. I ..."
Her voice broke slightly. I didn't want her crying again, she'd had enough trouble tonight without me making it worse.
"You shouldn't be treated like that. No one should."
Her eyes seemed to stop watering slightly as she looked up at me with a confused face, not understanding why I cared for her. To be honest I didn't know either, I don't know why I put myself in harms way to protect a complete stranger. I ran my fingers through my curls and placed my hands in my pockets, not knowing how to fill the awkward silence that she has creating by not responding.
"How about we just get you home..." I finally said.
She was shaking hard. I couldn't tell if it was from cold or from the events that played out not long ago. I looked around on the ground to see if her jacket had fallen. It lay torn slightly in a puddle where her boyfriend had stood. I shook my head at the thought of the violent male ripping the coat from her body, her being helpless. Walking over to it and bending to pick it up, I realized the wet material obviously wasn't suitable to wear. I squeezed it out with a twist and set it on top of a trash bin before removing my own long back trench coat. She watched speechlessly as I held it out to her.
"I... I can't-"
"No, you will. Take it, you're freezing."
She cautiously took the coat and slipped it over herself. It was too large on her since she was so much smaller than me but she looked relieved not to be so cold anymore. Her eyes look a hesitant glance towards me and she mustered a small smile. It warmed me to see something went sort-of right for her tonight.
"Do you want me to walk you home or call a cab or..?" I asked leaving the question open ended.
"I... Um... I live with.. him... Its not far..." Her voice trailed off, remembering what her lover had just done to her, how he had beat her and then given her up so willingly. I paused before responding, shaking my head.
"You cant stay with him. He'll hurt you again."
She looked away from me as i attempted to meet her eyes. Her voice seemed to hitch in her throat, tears once again threatening to spill out. She had no where to stay, her boyfriend deserting her in a cold alley...all alone..
"You can stay at my flat..." I spoke suddenly, "Its just down the street, that's why i was coming this way when i found you.. You could stay until you sort everything out.."
I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable eventhough I myself did, offering a stranger my home. I ran my digits through my curls again, feeling nervous. She continued to stare at the ground until she looked up, finally holding my eye contact as she hesitantly held out her hand towards me.
"I'm Lucy."
