Pitty Party

It wasn't like he was a great house guest so why should you care if he leaves? He is a grown man monkey thing and he can take care of himself. You think to yourself as you walk to go eat breakfast. You open the fridge to find all of the plum flavor stuff he had bought. You grab some jam and put some bread in the toaster. As you wait for the toaster to finish you go make yourself some iced coffee. You sit down but have an empty feeling and lose your appetite to eat. It's back to how it was before. Everything was fine before but after having someone to see when you wake up and not being alone, everything is just dull. The light and comfort you had got from your house were sucked out of it and replaced with sickening loneliness that could swallow you whole.

You get back up and go to your room hoping you could just sleep it off. You wake back up at 3 pm and still feel the exact same. You get ready to leave the house so that you could do some grocery shopping and check on the dojo. You bought some Oreos and other snacks along with water and other drinks. The weather seemed to reflect your mood perfectly. There was no storm which was nice but the wind was blowing fast tossing plastic bags through the air while dark fluffy clouds were on the horizon and a light gray sky.

When you get to the dojo you kinda hoped Macaque would be sitting on the couch with his arms crossed all grumpy but of course, he wasn't. Your chest was tightening knowing you would never see him again. You remember how cute he was when cooking and how awkward he was about you being kind to him. You sit on the couch and tuck your knees in and hug them against your chest. No lights were on, it was just you and the dark. You remember how comforting it was to be next to him. He might have been rude but he just didn't want to let his wall down. You were just starting to chip away at it and without hearing his side of the story you kicked him out. You can't even know if what Mk told you was exactly how it went, you weren't there to see it and there is always another side to the story. You start to cry knowing how you were so quick to judge someone for his past actions even though he seemed like a great person at heart from what you had experienced.

You lay over still hugging your knees and just stare into the dark with tears rolling down your face. You ended up falling asleep and waking up to a knock on your door. You roll off the couch hitting the floor hard and walk over to open the door. Mk was standing there and when he looked at you his face reflected what you assumed a worried mom would look like.

"What's up?" you asked him while standing in the doorway still.

"Well, I just wanted to make sure you were okay... you know because Macaque can be so" he said but you snapped the moment he was about to say something bad about Macaque.

"How well do you know Macaque?" you asked Mk.

"Well he was my mentor for a while," he responded.

"Okay then you can agree he has a good heart and if you don't want to I could care less. Macaque is an amazing soul who has been through a shit ton of stuff," you said. You never really cuss so when you did Mk looked shocked and then noticed just how sincere you are.

"He would never hurt me, the only reason he would hurt someone is if they did something to him first. Did you ever take a second to try to understand his point of view or why he is like he is? People aren't just evil like that for no reason. If he was really evil he would have killed me when we first met, if he was truly evil he wouldn't have tried so hard to repay me for taking care of him. If there was never evil done to him he would have never been surprised by me treating him kindly because I could," you say through tears letting your emotions spill over.

"He was sweet and I loved having him around but I just proved the fact people are awful to him even more," You whisper just barely audible to Mk. He doesn't say anything else to you but hugs you. You wrap your arms around him and break down soaking his shirt as it starts to sprinkle outside.

"You're right y/n," he says in a soothing voice. "It was wrong for me to say that without fully understanding ALL sides of the story." You stay close to him not wanting the comfort of another person to leave you all alone again. You just nod your head while trying to calm yourself down.

"You miss them don't you?" Mk asks. You know he is no longer talking about Macaque but your parents who left you nothing but a dojo and happy memories. You nod your head.

"I thought I wouldn't be alone anymore when I found Macaque, that maybe I could help someone and have a shoulder to lean on...," you say.

"You thought he could have been your family," Mk says, finishing your thought.

You responded, "yeah something like that." You guys stand there in each other's embrace before somebody interrupts.

"Well ain't that sweet," a voice you never heard said. You look over Mk's shoulder to see a very disappointing sight. The Monkey King sat on his little cloud while leaning against his hand.

"Sorry to break this up kid but we got training to do," he says before Mk looks at you with an apologizing look. You walk back inside but before you could shut the door the Monkey King stopped you.

"Man, what made her so sad?" He asked Mk.

"She got in an argument with someone she cared for," Mk responded, trying to drag the monkey away before something was said that would trigger either one of you.

"You know what I do when upset," the Monkey King said, still not talking to you even though he was talking about you, which was getting you agitated.

"Go into hiding and push the consciousness of your mistakes on others," You say now staring him in the eyes with your arms crossed.

"And by the way, Monkey King peach isn't an attractive smell to have a preference for something a little more like lavenders and plums," you say while slamming the door in his face. You could hear him tell Mk he liked how feisty you were with a laugh before they both left. You go into the bathroom and look in the mirror. Your hair was a bird's nest and your mascara was smudged and there were streams of it down your face. You looked like a nut job but who would blame you, you lost everyone you cared for again.

You brushed your hair and wiped off the mascara on your face. You made a mistake you thought to yourself and everyone makes mistakes. What better way to fix your mistake than owning up to them and apologizing, you thought. You grab your stuff and run out the door. I need to track down this monkey and fast before he gets in more trouble.
