(Emberstar's POV)

It was still dark out in our forest as I lead my Clan back into our Camp, Rosethorn  following close behind me. I could hear my Clanmates chatting all too loudly about the 'Death Disease', and I was getting agitated.

As much as I wanted them to be quiet, I said nothing. Soon, we entered our spacious Camp, where everyone gathered under my den. Since they were waiting for a announcement, I lept atop my den and spoke.

"Cats of FireClan, we will take precautions about the visions," I said, not wanting to say 'Death Disease'. "Rosepetal will assign cats to strengthen the Camp walls, and Apprentices should help Dustleaf and Strompaw gather herbs."

I scanned the crowd for any sign of disagreement. The only thing I found were looks of worry or confusion. Then, I heard a small voice near the front of the crowd. "Um, Emberstar, shouldn't we stock up on prey too?"

Then I saw an all-white apprentice Petalpaw, looking up at me. "Good idea, it wouldn't hurt to send a few extra hunting patrols out."

Petalpaw Sat up a little straighter at hearing this. "Alright, it's settled. Rosethorn will order the cats who will build the walls, Dustleaf will go with Apprentices to gather herbs, and I will order normal patrols."

"Dismissed!" I knew it was getting dark out, meaning it would be pointless to patrol now. We had enough fresh-kill and the other Clans didn't seem bent on attacking us.

I jumped off my den and sat at its entrance, looking around Camp. I saw Queens leading their kits into the nursery, Dustleaf giving quick explanations on herbs to apprentices, Warriors sharing fresh-kill.

It all looked so peaceful. But, something flashed in the corner of my eye. It looked like a cat, only it had white eyes and bloody fur.

I froze and my heart sped up. No... The figure had disappeared though. Calm down, it was just a vision, I gulped.

Pale dawn light was shining down on a sleeping FireClan. Beyond the Camp, it was eerily quiet. There were no sounds of birds chirping, underbrush rustling, or even the wind. It seemed as time had frozen its self.

Soon, most of the Clan had woken up and Rosethorn had ordered hunting patrols, leaving a few cats behind to build on the Camp's thorny walls. The Apprentices also had went out with Dustleaf to gather herbs.

Most cats had noticed the odd quietness of their forest, becoming worried. Was this a sign of the Death Disease?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One cat, an Apprentice named Torchpaw, was walking alongside Petalpaw, Dustleaf, and Stormpaw. The other apprentices he had been sent out with, who were older, had already gone off to look for herbs instructed by Dustleaf.
"Alright, Torchpaw and Petalpaw, look around here for cobwebs. They are essential for healing purposes, as they stop bleeding." "Ok," Torchpaw responded, trotting off with Petalpaw towards a small stream FireClan knew of.
"We can look in all these bushes," Petalpaw suggested. Torchpaw nodded and the pair began searching together. "I wonder why Dustleaf let us go off all by ourselves...I mean, I know we're Apprentices and stuff, I just thought it was weird she wouldn't come with us."
Torchpaw shrugged as he wrapped a soft white bundle around a forepaw. "Maybe she's testing us to see if we can carry out orders or something?" Torchpaw suggested. "Maybe," Petalpaw murmured.
After a little while, the two apprentices had gathered all the cobwebs they could carry, also gathering some Marigold to impress Dustleaf. As they trotted through the silent forest, Torchpaw heard a low groan.
Petalpaw must've heard it too, for her head whipped around as fast as lightning. "Is that....!?" Petalpaw gulped, her white fur spiked up in terror. Dustleaf had told them as a precaution that Sick Cats made groaning noises.
Suddenly, Torchpaw could hear leaves and branches being moved in the undergrowth. "We should get out of here!" He lowly hissed to Petalpaw, who was looking around wildly. He gave her a prod in the side, and together they quickly and quietly weaved through the undergrowth.
Suddenly, the groaning was intensified and two cat-like figures leaped out a bush in front of the pair of Apprentices. Petalpaw let out a screech of fear, collapsing in total shock. Torchpaw dropped all the herbs he had gathered and grimaced as he looked at the deadly cats.
One was walking in a hunched-over pose, it's fur dull and blood-stained, with a ripped ear and white eyes. The other cat looked almost normal, except it had a huge gash in its neck, a missing tail, and white eyes. The two cats blindly stumbled for Torchpaw, who recovered his senses and bolted up the nearest tree.
As soon as Torchpaw was out of reach, the pair went for Petalpaw, who was lying unconscious in the grass. "No!" Torchpaw screeched. He flung himself off the tree as the hunched-over cat bit onto Petalpaw's neck.
The calico tom landed on the at that had bitten Petalpaw, ripping out hunks of its fur and getting blood all over his paws. The cat paid no notice though, and, to his horror, it was eating the now-dead Petalpaw, hungrily taking big bites out of her throat.
Torchpaw gasped in horror, eyes wide in fear. The other cat was now staring at him with terrifying white eyes, groaning. The FireClan apprentice jumped off the eating cat, only to be approached by the other cat.
"AGGGHH!" He screeched as bloody claws ripped into his shoulders. No matter how hard he fought, the cat wouldn't let go. After heartbeats of chest and shoulder injuries, Torchpaw collapsed in agony. Tears rolling out of his eyes, he had one thought. I'm so sorry, Petalpaw....
Dagger-like fangs clamped around his neck, ending his life in a matter of seconds. After the sick cats had eaten the Apprentices, they caught wind of more live prey, and started to head towards it.
The FireClan camp.
