In Herbology.
Professor sprout: *gets everyone into the greenhouse* Alright folks. This year we'll be going over some of the more dangerous plants, starting with the mandrakes. Can anyone tell me about their properties?
Hermione: *hands shoots up*
Professor Sprout: Miss Potter?
Hermione: Mandrake, or mandragora, is a powerful restorative, it is used to return people who have been paralysed to their original state.
Professor Sprout: Very good Miss Potter, take 5 points for your house. Now who can tell me what makes them so dangerous?
Hermione: *hand shoots up again*
Professor Sprout: *looks around the room and sees no one else* Go on then Potter.
Hermione: The cry of the mandrake is fatal to anyone who should hear it.
Professor Sprout: That's also correct. Another 5 for you. Now if you will all grab a pair of earmuffs I will demonstrate this.Everyone grabs a pair.
Professor Sprout: *puts her own earmuffs on and pulls a mandrake out the soil*
Mandrake: *screams*The whole class recoils and presses their earmuffs into their heads.
Professor Sprout: *shoved it back into it's pot* These are only seedlings so they won't kill you yet but they will knock you out so be careful. 4 to a tray, there's some pots over there. Since we don't want any trips to the hospital wing today I will attract your attention when it's time to pack up. Begin!
After lesson at lunch time.
Pansy: Those mandrakes were a bit tricky.
Hannah: I know. I feel bad for poor Neville. Do you think he'll be ok?
Harry: I'm sure he'll be fine. Sprout said they shouldn't be fatal yet.
Ron: Still, it's a shame everything seems to happen to him. Wish the world would just cut him some slack.Next episode will take place the day of the quidditch practice.
