Chapter 16

It is out of Zee's control. Just when he is ready to let the younger man go, everything seem to turn upside down. Nothing been right, starting from the disappearance of traveler Mark to the downfall of Risha's health.

He have been trying every mean to search for the man but Mark is nowhere to be found. This is not supposed to happened near the day Nunew should be send back.

Risha, the poor child fall ill last night. His body turn so cold Zee is scared about the possibility of losing him. Pacing back and forth, he waited for Lin to shows up. Zee doesn't care anymore about his condition having dark circles and stubble on his chin from not taking good care of himself this past few days.

Nunew never leave Risha's side thankfully and the younger take care of his child so well. Zee sometimes thought that he did not act like a father enough for Risha. When he was supposed to be there all the time for the child, but instead Nunew is always one step ahead of him.

"Please I....Risha is what I have left in this world"

If something is to happened, Zee might as well ended his life. There is no use without his child with him in this world anyway.

"Lin I need you help" He call out to the air hoping the old women to pop out and yes she did. She stand behind his figure appearing from the dark clouds.

"What happened with your child? There is a dark aura around your mansion" Lin states.

"He's not in a good condition, no worse than that. He is barely alive" Zee fall to his knees.

"Why is he still here? Didn't I warn you enough before, Lord Pruk?" Lin was stern on her words.

"Mark is nowhere to be found, Nunew can't go back without him" Zee try to tell her but she doesn't listen to his excuses.

"I'll send him myself" She disappear once again probably going to find him anywhere in Zee's mansion. Zee run out of the hall to Risha's room and find it empty. He turn his head to the windowsill and look out to see four people outside on the big field at the back of Zee's mansion. He let his feet goes to them.

Nunew is holding on the child so tight to his chest feeling so scared. He can sense something familiar whilst looking at the old woman who drag them out of the room by her pure power. He is confused with how his body seem to react with her presence beside him. His emotions jumbled up just standing near her. Anger, sadness, regrets, confusion and the strongest part the is pain he feel deep in his heart that Nunew can't describe.

Zee shows up few seconds to his side protecting them by unwanted forces of magic.

"I'm sorry for doing what I have to do" Lin turn her palm to the air igniting a ball of sparking light and told Zee to get Risha away from the younger.

"What are you doing?" Zee was taken aback with her posture as if going to attack Nunew anytime soon. She never say what she's going to do to him but Zee have never thought it will be involving physical pain looking at the magic on her hand.

"Would you let me take your souls power to exchange for the child?" Lin look into the young man pretty pair of eyes. She won't kill him but he will be an empty body without soul till he find one later in the human world.

Lin see Nunew contemplating his choices. The sad eyes stare at Zee and the pale child back and forth. With one last glance from him, Nunew seem to get an infinite answer for her.

"Do anything you could, even if it cause me to lost my life" He glance up with a sad smile he could muster. Nunew would choose to save Risha more than himself.

"No please.... I can't lose any of you" Zee was full on screaming by now. He can't see this again, not again.

"Please let me be selfish this time, Zee" Nunew let a tears wet his cheek displaying a sweet smile his way. Lips trembling to fight his fear of coming to his end.

"Merione" Lin call for her subordinate but the one appears before her make her take a step back.

" Hello, sister" The man have a wicked smile on his face in delight of finally meeting his older sister after 20 years.

"I'm so sorry, Lin" Merione apologise to her.

Head Mage Chakan hold Merione by her throat. He is taking her as a captive because he know very well Lin need Merione power to protect her son's cage soul.

"Chakan, let her go this instant" Lin turn her focus to the male mage, her own blood brother.

"You should have listened to me 20 years ago" He laugh maniacally.

"This got nothing to do with you, leave us alone. The throne is on your hand now, what more do you need from me" Lin take a step near them but Chakan pull Merione back a step.

"I want to see you kill him with your own hand. I would love to watch that moment pass by my eyes" He grin so big Merione got a chill running down her spine just by staying close to him.

His hand tightened around her and Merione is having a hard time to breathe. The power surge in her body like a fire, he's doing it to provoke Lin.

The helpless women cried for help from the burning sensation all over. Lin take a step back with her hand above her head "Please stop, I will do anything"

She is on his mercy now just like what he have been dreaming about. The older sister in front of him no longer strut with her powerful walk but instead dragging herself on her knees begging Chakan to spare Merione life's.

His face light up to thousands star. Happy to see the torture jumbling inside her mind. He is so sick for that but nothing could stop his wickedness. Being full or hatred and jealousy all his life over power turn his sanity upside down. He is far gone.

Zee let Geena take Risha away from the field to somewhere safe while he stay guarded. Zee really want to go near Nunew who's been at lost watching the scene happening in front of him but he can't risk it.

He need to protect his own child first before anyone else. The male keep his gaze on the younger, Zee can't read his mind but he is sure Nunew is as confuse as him.

"Here. Destroy it" Chakan throw the old rusty dagger  to Lin's feet.

The dagger move around sensing its body near. Lin catch it on her palm. She wouldn't able to destroy it no matter what but if she doesn't, Merione will lost her life by Chakan's hand.

20 years of protecting the livid soul inside the dagger, Lin wouldn't possibly let it end just like that. She have to come up with a fast response but in this short time what can she do.
