Drowning

The ocean's face looks towards the sky.
Her salted breath whispers a sigh,
A body of tears that cannot cry,
And her ancient voice sings an honest lie:
"You are human, I am the sea,
But we're two of a kind, you and me.
Step closer, let go of your cares,
And I'll free you from your nightmares."
You feel water touch your skin,
And just as her face alights in a grin,
The tide, her arm, comes closing in.
Can't move, can't scream, can't utter a plea,
Just feel the cold of the vengeful sea.
She spoke the truth, she did not lie,
For, with you, your nightmares shall die.
All of them fade, except one that stays,
This one that now ends your living days,
And your last thought in this murky drear
Is your deep dark aquatic fear.
