You wake up in the early hours of Christmas day, the sounds of Scorpius babbling to himself carrying over from the bedroom he had been moved to on the opposite side of the main nursery room.

Your foot brushes against a square package and you sit up to find a present and two cards. You open the first one, it's from your parents letting you know how much they are looking forward to seeing you on Boxing day and how your presents are waiting for you. You grin to yourself, four days of holiday at home await you after today, though you're under strict instructions to be back for the day before New Year's Eve.

You then pick up the parcel and pull off the envelope attached, opening the package to find a box of Honeydukes chocolates before tearing open the envelope.

Dear Little Em'ly,

Happy Christmas, sorry for last time, hope to see you in the new year, I promise if Steerforth abandons you in a house for fallen women I'll send help,

Love Laura xx

You roll your eyes and get out of bed carrying the cards with you as you go to get Scorpius up and ready.

"Did you put the cards and gift on my bed, Portsky?" you ask as you sit eating your Christmas lunch in the kitchen, while Scorpius mashes a roast potato into his high chair.

"Yes, Miss, and thank you for the sweets, Miss, to kind of you," the elf replies, tapping the pudding plates so that they will appear in the dining room above.

"I didn't know what to get you."

"Wasn't necessary to get me anything," he replies, sitting down on his little stool and wiping his brow.

"Was that the last course?"

"No, cheese, and then the port, the ladies then buzz off to the drawing room and the two Mr Malfoys will have a drink before joining them, then it be your turn, Miss!"

You sigh in response, Narcissa had told you on Christmas Eve that Scorpius was to be brought to the drawing room after lunch to receive his gifts. He's not been in the best mood all morning, teething you suspect, and probably over-stimulated from the change in routine as well as the extravagant decorations that grace the manor.

"It be alright, Miss, don't worry, and you'll have Master Draco there to look out for you," the elf grins.

"I'm just not looking forward to seeing the others."

"Hmm, don't blame you, Miss, stuck up cows aren't they, that Miss Parkinson and her mother."

You look at him in wonder, "how do you say such things without hurting yourself?"

"Not my mistress is she, not yet anyway," he mutters darkly getting up and tapping the cheese board.

You carry Scorpius into the drawing room with a fixed smile on your face, he's already wiggling with annoyance in your arms, it should be nap time but it seems that he's expected to fit in with the rest of the family rather than the other way around.

Pansy stands up carrying a huge sparkly parcel as you set the child on the floor, and you can't help but admire her dress, a green satin sheath, cut close to her enviable figure.

"Here you go, my darling" she coos loudly coming over the placing the present in front of Scorpius.

The paper flashes as the ribbons around it bend and curl, and he lets out a howl of protest in response.
