Some days, it was enough just to know that I had a packet of blades in the house. They were a cold, very sharp, security blanket. –ditto

Carson's POV

"What's your favourite colour?" Riley stared up at me with her forest green eyes. I laughed and shook my head. Once again, Riley had more questions to ask me.

I put Mr. Tilly in his chair, his fur was still a soft pink sunset colour. He was an elephant. And a big one at that(since he was half my size). She tapped my arm lightly, reminding me that I still needed to answer her question. "Blue" I said and smiled.

"Oh". She leaned back in her seat, her fire red hair and freckled face relaxed a bit but then it turned into a pout. "Well, my favourite colour is red!" She said it loud and proud. I nodded my head and put Ms. Froggy in her seat right beside Mr. Tilly.

Riley jumped out of her seat as soon as I sat down in mine. "We're not done yet!"

I looked at her, confused. "yes we are. Mr. Tilly and Ms. Froggy are here. And we have the cookies and tea right here." I pointed at the cookies and tea.

She shook her head, her eyes filling up with excitement. When she talked, her voice was soft, a low whisper, "We still need music!"

As if everything clicked in my head, I knew what she was getting at....And I didn't like it at all. This tea party wasn't going to include anything more than tea, cookies, and stuffed animals.

Ariel's POV

I slipped into my converse, ready to make another run for it, to get away from this place. I got ready, my heart beating fast, my black bangs in my eyes, but I didn't care. I needed to leave...now. But this time, I was going to use the window. I opened the window, ready to jump out when I heard a knock at my door. It was faint but easy to tell that uncle Jordy was at my door.

I slowly shut the window and throw my bag under my bed where he wouldn't be able to see it. "Come in" I said, trying to keep calm and make my heart beat go back to normal. The door opened. But only enough so that his hand and head could pop into my room, I smiled as I leaned against the wall.

Keep calm. Don't freak out, he doesn't know...I think.

He turned his head towards my direction, once he saw my smiling face, his relaxed and fully came into my room. His loud foot steps made my heart race as he came closer to me. "Hey, Real." He put his hands in his back pockets.

I put my palm against they wall, feeling the coolness of it. He sighed and looked at the ground. "Amelia told me you were at last night. What were you doing?'

My hand that was on the wall twitched. He knew...He must have known what I was planing. Uncle Jordy walked over to my bed, and sat down. He opened his mouth but I cut him off right away, my mind screaming at me.

"I don't want to talk about it right now."

He got the hint and slowly stood up, his head bent low. "Okay, that's fine. We're having guests over in about twenty minutes. So get dressed and we can talk about last night tomorrow or something okay?"

I nodded my head. It took me a minute to realize that he couldn't see that I nodded my head since he wasn't facing me. "Okay."

The door closed quietly and to my surprise, the tears came rushing down my cheeks. I didn't want them. I didn't want them at all.

My legs gave out and I went crashing to the floor.  My sobs got louder as the tears came down harder. Slowly, I wrapped my arms around my legs, still crying. "Stop crying. Please stop crying" I whispered to myself. But it wasn't working, my body had a mind of its own today.
