ANOTHER UPDATE.

This chapter got me re-thinking my life so I'll just upload this here and run. Just a reminder, again—This book is a dark romance and if you haven't read the TW's at the beginning of this book please do. The themes are extremely dark so I warned you.

AMAYA'S POV

"I find it very brave that you decided to go back to Japan, Amaya," Jessica smiles as she rubs her hand up and down my back.

"I'll take good care of Sora, but don't be gone too long, okay? Or else we'll start missing you too much." She looks over at Elijah who is trying to steal my luggage so I can not leave.

I smile tugs on my lips as I gesture for the little boy to come over. He groans and lumbers over to me as my hand slips into his hair and purposefully messes it up.

"I will get you something from Japan if you stop acting so sad." Elijah lost all signs of sadness, and his face changed into something that may be compared to a serial killer's smile.

"Deal," He smirks and a laugh slips out of my mouth. Deal.

"I guess I should go now?" I looked around to see if I had forgotten anything. I have the diary in my bag with my medication and the rest of the important stuff is in my suitcase.

"No!" When Sora and Jessica both yell out at once, my eyebrows pinch together in confusion. I understood that they would miss me. But I had no idea they would be this devoted.

Or maybe—maybe that is not it. I can not explain why annoyance starts to seep into the back of my head as I read their facial expressions.

"Why? I need to leave right now," I turn around but right when I am about to reach for the door handle Elijah jumps in front of it, blocking me from leaving. What the hell?

"What did you do?" I turn around and glare at Jessica and Sora who look at each other and clear their throat.

They are about to speak until the sound of someone honking twice is audible from right outside the house. "You know we love you so–," Sora tries to say before I pick up Elijah's light body and move him away from the door, opening it as if there is someone holding a gun to the back of my head.

But as soon as I open the door a feeling of true dread sets in. As soon as I look at him, I feel as if someone had shot me in the chest.

As my eyes pass over him, Adams slowly exits his car and smooths his black blazer with his hand. His blonde hair is styled in a way that makes some of the strands fall down onto his forehead, and he is dressed in a black suit.

He smiles at me even though I am staring at him as though he is the poison that flows into my bloodstream.

"Ready to go?" He smirks and leans back against his expensive car. He smirks because he knows that I was not going to leave with him.
