AMAYAS POV

9 months later

"Elijah, seriously?" I hear Jess sigh as they join the family dinner my mom organized, her wrist wrapped around Elijah's hand for a reason we still do not know.

"What happened?" Rowan asks, reminding me that he is sitting right beside me, curious eyes directed toward the mother and son duo.

"Elijah accidentally burned his hand touching one of the hot pans," Jessica shakes her head, taking out a first aid kit and placing Elijah in front of her on a seat.

"And for exactly what particular reason would you want to touch a pan?" Ayumu asks with raised eyebrows, probably contemplating whether or not he should have kids in the future, the answer is clearly not positive seeing his facial expressions.

"How was I supposed to know that it was going to be hot? Do I look like a genie or something?" The young boy bites back, rolling his eyes at my brother, the sassiness rolling off his tongue like it is nothing.

Laughs erupt around us and I notice how Sora jokingly pats Ayumu on his head to reduce the impact of the young boy's words. "Yes, actually. Where's your oil lamp? Shouldn't you go and run inside it already?" Ayumu smirks, leaning his head to the side as I stand up while shaking my head, walking over to Jessica and smiling at her as I tell her to sit down while I treat his burn.

"Are you sure?" Jessica asks as she looks at her stubborn son and I nod, "Definitely."

With that, she thanks me with a smile before she sits back down with the others. I drag a seat in front of Elijah and sit down, gently grabbing his hand and dressing the wound while I overhear the conversation between an eight-year-old child and a grown-up man.

"Orokana atama," Elijah says in Japanese, earning a laugh from mine and Rowan's parents, and Sora, all while we also hear a loud and clear gasp escaping from my twin brother's mouth, his jaw almost dropped to the floor if it was not connected to his face.
( Japanese | stupid head )

"He just—," Ayumu points at the little kid before he looks at me—or rather glares at me as though it was me who said it.

"Did you teach the kid proper Japanese or only how to curse me out?!" He says offended and I lift my eyebrows, a scoff leaving my throat. "I did not teach him curse words," I shake my head and turn to look at Elijah, "How do you know what that means, huh?" I ask Elijah.

He shrugs and smiles, "Google translate of course."

"See, it was not me who taught him that. But now I do kinda wish I did." I tell Ayumu, mumbling the last part to myself even though my brother is still publicly glaring at me.
