Xiao couldn't tell whether his eyes were open or closed at this point. Everything was dark and it felt like his whole body was floating somewhere in the air. As far as he knew, there was no one else around, either. If this was supposed to be your dream, then where were you? Had something gone wrong?
The area was cold, reminding him of your cryo power. It wasn't a chilling type of cold though, as much as a refreshing cold, like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. He hadn't felt the effects of your power like this in so long that he had nearly forgotten it. Not to mention, everything in your dream, if this really was your dream, felt odd. It was almost as if he were numb. Perhaps this was the result of it not being a physical place.
In addition, he couldn't feel the effects of his karmic debt anymore. The voices and whispers that usually plagued his mind were gone, and the pain had disappeared, too. While the feeling provided him some much-needed relief, he knew better than to get used to it. After all, he would be leaving this place within two days.
The longer he remained in the darkness, the more it began to feel suffocating. What had started out as a soothing experience quickly changed, the air being sucked from his lungs. Every time he tried to take a breath, nothing happened. Xiao swore he would have died there, had his surroundings not began to shift a few minutes later.
A light blinded his eyes, and his vision blurred as he tried to figure out just where he was. After a moment, everything became clear again and he was able to adjust to the drastic change from pitch black to sunlight.
He was now standing on a mountain so high that he could see clouds below him. Flowers covered the ground; everything from qingxin flowers to violet grass and glaze lilies. Shifting his gaze to the opposite side of the peak, Xiao could see a figure sitting amongst the plants.
They were facing away from him, their h/c hair blowing in the light breeze. It took him only seconds to realize the figure was you, or at least, your soul.
You were giving off the same energy he remembered so vividly, glowing a bright white even under the rays of the sun. He wanted to run to you, call out to you, take you out of the dream once and for all, but he couldn't.
It was like he was frozen in place; something in the dream was preventing him from moving. Trying to fight against it, Xiao looked back at you in a panic as he realized things were getting blurry. As his surroundings once again changed, all he could do was stare at your blurred figure until a white light filled his vision.
..........
When Xiao's sight returned to normal, you were gone. He was no longer on the mountain from before, and instead found himself in Guili Plains.
Sitting up carefully, he realized he had been laying on the bridge that led in the direction of Mingyun Village. Only, the bridge wasn't broken like it would have been in the real world. In fact, it looked brand new. He stood up now, looking around the area.
Being in such an unfamiliar place made him put his guard up. It seemed he couldn't summon his weapon here, nor use his vision. He would have to find something to fight with instead while he was here, as he didn't know what might attack him.
Near the end of the bridge was a small camp area that seemed to currently be empty. Several small tent-like structures had been put up, housing weapons and boxes of what he assumed were supplies. In the water near the camp were a few big logs that stuck upright to create platforms. There were a few small boats and makeshift docks littering the shores.
Xiao recognized the area as what was a hillichurl camp in present day, but didn't seem to be used that way now. He carefully made his way down the bridge and into the camp, looking for anything that might tell him where he was and what was going on.
