Hunter's Hypocrisy, Luz's lying ♜

My own Future

Luz's POV: 

After Kikimora went down i jumped onto the hand-dragon-thing and was just about to blow the whistle for it to fly away when i saw the way Hunter was fighting, very strategic, strong hits in the right places and very swift and precise movements, "how long has he had to fight like this, how long has he been in the emperor's coven?" i thought. This got me thinking back to what he said "at least you can figure out you're own" referring to his future, and how he mentioned being found by Belos at a very young age and not remembering anything before Belos. 

"Has Hunter been in the Emperor's Coven his whole life?"

I decided to find out and see if we wanted his own future, it wasn't really my busyness but he seemed ever so slightly doubtful about his place in the coven, having felt the same i wanted to help and if he didn't want it i guess he would arrest me or something. Kikimora went down surprisingly fast seeing as she was sdurposeubly one of the covens best, but i guess Hunter was better. He turned to see me still there and gave me an annoyed look, i jumped down and walked over to him "i just wanted to ask you something" i say "i don't have time for your silly questions human, i need to get back as people think i dead" he responded with a sarcastic smirk "what if you didn't.." i said timidly  he turned to face me "What?" he looked surprised at the thought of leaving the Emperor's Coven "What are you talking about of course i'm going back..." " is that what you want thought, you don't seem to like it there. Everyone has a right to their own future and i can help you get that" I said with more confidence " But if you don't want my help, ill just walk away o-or you can just arrest me"  

He looked at me with a mix of shock, sadness and anger but he got on his staff, but before he flew away i said "you know where to find me if you change your mind" and with that he was gone. It was worth a shot and he might change his mind, i got back on the Hand-Dragon blew the whistle and flew in the opposite direction. We made it back to Hexside and i made sure the palismen where ok and asleep before walking back to the owl house, luckily Hooty was asleep so i was able to sneak back into the house through a window to crash onto my sleeping bag. Me and Hunter had a mutual understanding that this encounter and plan was not to be spoken about to anyone, I was not planing on telling anyone anyways so not even Eda would know. 

Hunter's POV:  

I flew back to the castle Luz's words re-playing in my mind as i start to wonder if it's actually worth putting my life at risk to "make my own future" whatever that actually means. At this point even I didn't know, wait of course i know what i want my future to look like, serving Emperor Belos.  Sure, he punishes me in more painful ways but thats only because of my own faults and he wants to see me succeed right?

I fly up to the front doors and land to see the confusion on the guards faces that are positioned at the doors for security, " Who are you, pull your mask down and identify yourself!" the guard to the right ordered me " I am your superior and i can prove it" i said in a stern tone. I showed them my staff and coven sigil, the guard on the left began to speak " Golden Guard!? but Kikimora said you-" "died" i said in an annoyed tone " Yes well i did not as you can see so let me in" the guards looked horrified at their mistake and opened the doors allowing me entry. There where scouts running around in the "unfortunate and unexpected" timing of my "death" nothing stopped though as not many knew what i looked like under my Golden Guard mask, it wasn't until Kikimora shouted in shock seeing me alive and seeming well. " Golden Guard?!" all scouts stopped now acknowledging my presence, "ah, the emperor's assistant" i said emphasising the last word to add more fuel to fire .  " How lovely...it is to see your ok"  said hissed, most knew of the one sided, now both side rivalry between "The Golden Guard, Belos's right hand man" and " The Emperors assistant" because the two made it very clear of their hatred of each other.

I dont know how she got back to the castle before him but she did have her ways i guess, " I should go tell Emperor Belos of this good news" she sounds constipated this thought made me smirk and she looked like she could explode. What a humorous sight, she runs away as fast as she can on those short legs as i walk up to my room to change as Belos is sure to want to speak to me.  I was correct a scout came knocking on my door to inform me of my uncles wishes as i opened the door the scout began to speak but i simply walked passed as i already knew the message and wished to get this meeting over with, i was very tired. I have made many enemies this way being rude or ignoring scouts in the halls, most do not like me but thats not my problem.  

As i enter the room I see no Guards and no Kikimora, this is not good. Belos was stating in front of his thrown looking down as i enter and knell a good ten feet away from him, "so you return with nothing, is this the thanks i get for taking you in?" he sounded very angry, i lift me head to look Belos in the eyes so he knows i'm sincere " of course not! i wanna help a-and if you told me how wild magic did this to you i might be able to find a-" his hand turns into a sharp point and almost slashes the side of my face, this was my final warning. " My apologies, i spoke out of turn it wont happen again..."  i said with my eyes shut out of fear, the point retracts and Belos doubles over in pain" these outbursts are...painful" he said coming up again eyes glinting through his mask "And so is watching you fail , i know you can do better hunter "  i give a soft smile knowing it isn't a true smile and with that i am dismissed.      

After that lucky experience i started thinking more about what Luz said "Everyone has a right to their own future and i can help you get that" how could she help me? Belos was the one to give me a chance, he is the one helping me to be the best i can be to reach my full potential. As I walked out the double doors I saw Kikimora she began to speak but I ignored her aswell I was to tired for another fight, soon I reached my room and flopped onto my bed finally. I placed my hands over my eyes and muttered to myself until I Hurd something on my window, I got up to see-"Palismen!" I grabbed it a little to hard and it chirped so I let go with a sorry, I sigh " you shouldn't be here...it would be bad if belos saw you" I said aloud the red bird chirped again and turned into a staff- "woah- i was... not expecting that" I don't know why this palismen chose me I can't do magic so why?  

Why after everything am I questioning my life now?
