Liv was lying on the sofa, patting her dogs, and reading Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice". The date between Holly and Ben started with an amazing dinner and ended with a passionate night. Liv was feeling blessed with her friend's love life. She was trying not to disturb her with calls because she wanted Holly to enjoy this Autumn with Ben. Ben was a good guy. Hardworking, intelligent, bold. He had dark blonde hair and ocean blue eyes. He was slim, tall, and quite handsome. Liv was glad that they fell in love. Even though it happened too fast, she was still sure about their affection for each other.
..."you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love--I love--I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on".
Liv closed the book and put it aside. She was re-reading this book ninth time in her life. She sighed and looked up at the ceiling. Everything was tedious and monotonous. Her dogs were making no sounds and were lying calmly one on her lap, and the second near her.
Out of nowhere, the doorbell rang. The dogs rushed from the sofa immediately and started barking as if their owner was in danger. Liv opened the door and saw her friend, Ruby Roberts with a beaming and charming smile on her face.
-LIv-Ruby squeezed her friend-how are you?
-Great, what about you?-Liv also grinned.
-Fantastic. Oh, look at these adorable creatures. The last time I saw them was three months ago.
Ruby and Liv were studying at the same University years ago. They had been very close friends since the first year. Ruby was shorter than Liv but was just as skinny as her. She had appealing saucer hazel eyes, long ginger hair, and some freckles above her button nose.
-Come in-Liv invited her in.
-Oh god, your place is always so organized and clean, I need to learn that from you...Oh, again reading Jane Austen's books? Typical you.
In a second Liv's eye caught a very interesting thing about Ruby. She gasped and pointed at it.
-Are you...?
Ruby looked at her cunningly and giggled.
-Yes, yes, I am!
-Are you joking right now? If you are please, just...
-No, I am not! It is all true. Do you like it though?
-Yes-Liv sighed happily-this is the prettiest ring I have ever seen in my life. So who's the lucky guy? Wait, no, I have many questions! I was texting you some days ago and you didn't tell me that you were engaged and three months ago when I saw you before you would fly to Los Angeles, you were very single. So, what happened?
-Remember Michael? My university boyfriend? With whom I broke up because he went to live in Los Angeles? Well, I met him in the street and we talked for a while. After, we both visited some places. Plus, I apparently was living in his building, just one floor above. We were hanging out daily and it just happened. We will have a wedding soon.
-My lord-Liv laughed hysterically-how is that even possible? My friend just got engaged! When is the wedding?
-In a week. I thought you would maybe come. And maybe even be my bridesmaid...?
-You made me so incredibly joyful right now! Of course, I will! I will absolutely love to! We need to celebrate this! I will order a pizza and sodas. Or do you want alcohol? I just don't really drink.
-I prefer tequila.
-I have it somewhere. My colleague gave it to me and I couldn't say no. I also have a cake which I baked for no absolute reason at all yesterday, so I will also bring it.
-Liv, there is no need to...
-You are getting married! We have a big reason!
-Liv..please...
-Do not complain! Today, it is your day and we are going to celebrate that.
She energetically opened the refrigerator and sliced the cake. After she ordered other delicious food. She and Ruby made some food as well and started having a literal party.
-We need to invite more people-Liv said.
-No, Liv, really. Do not get overly crazy.
-Holly is busy today, but Kathy and Brienne are free I suppose.
-Oh god, I haven't met them for such a long time. How are they?
- Pretty good. I will call them and let us have a mini bacherlotte party!
-No need to...
-Shut up, old woman-Liv laughed and called others-We need more people but let us be only four. Just as in the university. Talking about boys, career, future... Those were good times... Anyways, I will order more stuff.
-Liv, you are spending money for nothing!
-Oh please, I have lots of money-Liv giggled.
-Yeah, but still.
-I never spend my money and now I have a reason to do it, so... I do not care today!
-Careless Liv is back, isn't she? Careless LIv, the queen of the parties.
-Stop-she punched Ruby's shoulder slightly-Nonsense-she muttered.
