6: Kohako's New Start

[Kioshi]

As they walked, they saw a mysterious white figure. Was that a ghost? I couldn't really tell to be honest...

Kohako walked towards that white figure. It looked like a female ghost girl wearing a kimono. The ghost girl just said a few words "30000 Yen. Give. House prepared. Welcome. No turning back." 30000 Yen flew out of Kohako's pocket in the ghost girl's hand. Then she kept giggling and disappeared.

Su was really scared of what had just happened. While Kohako just started walking in silence. Su just followed her and tried to get her to say anything... But she just stayed quiet.

The two siblings then reached the city and kept walking until they found a big pretty furnished house. Kohako said "This will be our house from now on. I am gonna save up money to buy you a house of your own later." Su kept jumping happily and rushed inside the house.

Kohako told Su that she'll go on a little walk and went to explore the city. The city seemed pretty normal and everything seemed peaceful. But some things didn't feel right. She found weird devices all around the city.

Cars.. Phones.. Speakers... And etc..
Kohako didn't see those things before but it felt like everything was familiar. She somehow understood how they worked.

Kohako then found a school. And without thinking, she went inside to look for the principal.

She found him pretty quickly because he was going on a walk outside the building and Kohako saw him on her way in. She asked to transfer to that school. The principal was confused as to why she was alone without anyone older.

...does he not know that whoever goes in can't go out..? Or was he born in the city and never tried getting out so he didn't understand...?

The principal surprisingly agreed. He made Kohako sign some papers and pay some money. And like that, the siblings had to start school just the next week.

Kohako then went to take another walk in the city. She found some weird looking people that seemed dangerous. She decided to ask a lady passing by about who they were and what's that big building they were guarding. The lady said "I don't really know much about them or their names. But some people pay them to kidnap or kill others. And if you try going in the building they'll try to kill you without thinking. I haven't seen them out of the building to kill anyone in a while. They're stronger than the police here so the police just can't get them out of the city or simply kill them. Do you need anything else, sweetheart?".

Then Kohako just thanked her and told her that she doesn't need anything else and went on her way.
