It was an early October morning, the sun had barely risen and the clouds greyed out any light that could be reached. The air was cold and crisp, fall was setting in, the perfect weather for a pumpkin latte. Sonia Nevermind walked into a small cafe on her way to school, one she has been meaning to visit but never found the time. It wasn't too busy, it was quite early. There was no lineup and 5 people sat at the various tables. 2 pairs who talked and laughed and generally seemed to be enjoying their morning. There was also an odd-looking man sitting alone at the back table. Sonia had recognized him as Gundham Tanaka, a classmate of hers. They had started school about a month ago so she didn't know him very well, in fact, the only time they talked was the initial introduction. Sonia had found it curious that he was sitting there by himself, he looked rather sad and frankly quite lonely. She was about to go over to him when the cashier asked if she was ready to order. She snapped out of her thoughts and realized it was almost time for school. She hurried up and made the decision to talk to him during school if she ever saw him. Most students at Hopes Peak Academy don't go to their regular classes, but rather practice their talents on their own. It seems to work best for students and teachers. For that reason, it was rare to see Gundham Tanaka, and Sonia was unsure about his usual whereabouts. Nonetheless, she spent the day trying to find him and make friends with him. She figured that was part of an Ultimate Princess's duties, to leave no one out. However, that appeared to be more difficult than thought. After the day was over, she was still left with no idea where he could have been, but there was always tomorrow.

The next day, Sonia decided to stop by the cafe again before school. The drink she had was amazing, but she noticed something else on the menu yesterday that piqued her taste buds' interest. As she walked in, she noticed it was a bit busier, a few more pairs of people were sitting at tables. In the very back corner, which was a bit darker than the other tables, sat Gundham Tanaka. As quick as she saw him, she saw his drink. It was dark with a darker chocolate bar sticking out. It had some whipped cream and was decorated with tiny bats and cobwebs. Sonia was immediately craving this drink and asked the cashier about it right away. She left the cafe with a Spooky Dark Chocolate Latte, which was definitely overpriced but at least it had bats on it! As she started walking to school she had realized she never talked to Gundham! It was alright though, she would look for him again today, surely she would find him. However, the final school bell rang and there was no sight of the mysterious man anywhere. Sonia refused to give up. Tomorrow she would get up an hour early and meet him at the cafe.

The next morning came and an hour early it was when she arrived at the cafe. Gundham was not there yet, so she decided to sit across from his spot in the dark back corner. As she waited she ordered the Spooky Dark Chocolate Latte, however, Gundham arrived before the drink. "Excuse me, mortal, you are in my spot. I will assume you were unaware of this fact and allow you the chance to move, however, mortal, if I ever find you in my spot again I will have no choice but to unleash the dark forces upon your miserable life." The mysterious man spoke bluntly but enthusiastically with a deep glare in his eyes. Sonia was a little taken aback for a moment, she wasn't quite sure how to respond. With a few blinks, she straightened out her thoughts. "My name is Sonia Nevermind, Ultimate Princess, we are in the same class together. I've been going to this coffee shop every morning this week, and every day I've noticed you sitting here alone, you looked sad and lonely so I thought you could use a friend! I have been trying to talk to you at school but I have not been able to find you. However, I knew I could find you here, so how about it? We could sit and have a drink together before school starts, does that not sound fun? If you would like to do something else I will gladly go with you, I am not familiar with the activities people do together here and I would love to learn." Sonia finished her introduction with a bright smile, which left Gundham taken aback and confused, also not quite sure what to say. After a few blinks he managed to say, "alright then... I suppose I could have some company this morning." He sat down, and the two stayed in a bit of awkward silence. Sonia made direct eye contact, however, Gundham was trying to avoid it, feeling quite awkward about the sudden stranger. Shortly, a drink arrived. Gundham instinctually grabbed it as it was his usual drink, but the server was quick to tell him that he would be along shortly and that one was for the lady. "You.. drink the Dark Devourer Bat Wing Demon Coffee?" Gundham was slightly shocked that anyone else would order such a drink. Sonia smiled brightly again,"Yes! I saw you drinking it yesterday and I had to try it for myself! It was one of the best drinks I've ever had." Gundham blushed slightly at this but hid it in his scarf, she saw his drink, and wanted to try it. Maybe, they could get along after all. If she was willing to talk to him in the first place then she had to be the on-.. I mean someone who could be a good friend.. Yes.

The two spent the rest of the morning talking and enjoying their chocolatey drinks. It was after lunch before they realized they forgot to go to school. They decided to ditch the rest of the day and spent it walking around town. By the end of the night, the two were holding hands walking side by side without even realizing it.
