"They are beautiful SilverLake," Thunder soothed. "They all look like you. Shining gray fur streaked with silver."

"Besides this one,  she doesn't look like either of us." SilverLake pointed out.

It's strange, the little pup had light cream fur with bright red splotches in various places. Nothing like Thunder, SilverLake,  or anyone they were related to. She was wandering blindly around the birthing den, bumping in to her brothers and sisters, who were racing for their mother's milk. Thunder picked the pup up by her scruff and placed her ahead of her siblings.

"What should we call them?" Thunder asked his mate.

"Hmm, this gray male looks like a troublemaker, " SilverLake joked. "Storm, he is definitely a Storm."

"That sounds like a good name for him. What about her,  she is kind of a pale gray, Snowflake, maybe?" Thunder suggested.

"I like it. For the two other males, how about Bone and Flame?" SilverLake continued.

Thunder nodded. "What about her?" He motioned to the oddly colored pup.

"Phoenix." SilverLake said, with a peculiar certainty.

"That works," Thunder agreed. "I think it's very... unique. "
