Y/n stared at the thick cloud of smoke in front of her. The strong smell of nicotine filled Kingston High's parking lot and she desperately tried to suppress her coughs.

"Can you believe it? It's like totally crazy." Sophie rolled her eyes as she sucked on her shared cigarette with Harrison a second time.

"But didn't your dad get you a car for your birthday Soph?" Tom chuckled and blew smoke into the air.

"Yeah but that's not important right now." Sophie handed her cigarette to Harrison.

Y/n was standing in the midst of Tom's group of friends as all of them were crammed between two cars, all with some sort of harmful substance in their hands. Tom was sitting on the ground, his back resting on some car's tire while Y/n sat next to him. Her hand was in his lap as he silently brushed her palm with his thumb and smoked his cigarette all the while.

Zee was standing next to him with a bottle of water, mostly likely mixed with some sort of drug, as her elbow was on the open car window. Harrison sat across from Tom with Sophie on his lap and the couple exchanged their cigarettes with occasional kisses on the neck from Harrison. Y/n was still surprised how he wasn't suspended after all the trouble him and his friends caused at the game, but Principle Johansson really wasn't too big on discipline herself. Lastly, Chloe was sitting next to Y/n with her head on the car door as she moaned occasionally because of her lingering hangover.

"Can we please stop talking about Sophie's rich girl problems? I can barely open my eyes!" Chloe groaned and everyone let out a laugh. Y/n only smiled a painted smile, their topics of discussion completely lost on her.

This was the first time she was hanging around  Tom's friends, they didn't really give her attention before Tom publicly announced his love for her. She guessed they must have thought she was just another hook up, and a part of her was satisfied to know that she wasn't. She had a free lesson every Thursday before her reporting class, and this one she decided to spend with this group of people.

"Why don't you try and have some lemonade, it helps." Y/n told her and Chloe raised her eyebrows.

"You sure?"

Y/n nodded with a smile. She was trying.

"I'm gonna go get some, thanks babe." Chloe exclaimed and got up with a struggle. She staggered to the school cafeteria while yelling "BRB!"

"Never heard of that lemonade thing before." Zee took a gulp of her liquid.

"My dad used to drink a lot, this was his way of getting over a hangover." Y/n mumbled, her voice much lower compared to everyone else. Tom squeezed her hand and gave her smile, something she really needed at the moment.

There was silence after what she had said. It made Y/n feel a bit dumb, as if she shouldn't have talked at all. Why did she have to tell them about her dad? She barely knew these guys. Fuck yourself honestly. She cursed in her head.

"Hey, we're sorry for being rude, you want to have a hit?" Sophie sneered and took out a cigarette for Y/n. She lighted it and put out her hand for Y/n to take.

"Uhm I-" Y/n tried to speak but Tom cut in.

"She doesn't smoke." He gave Sophie a glare lacing with temper, he didn't seem happy with what she was trying to do.
