[A/N: Oh, look. Another song I heard after writing a conversation between Dani and Jack that almost perfectly encapsulates their relationship in this chapter. How crazy?]
"Guys," Mark nearly shouts when he enters the kitchen, "we have a problem. I don't want to wake Felix this late, but you two need to see this. Now."
*****
Sean and I quickly follow Mark into Sean's now deserted living area. Almost like an instinct, I look around to see if we're actually alone. There's not a sign of Amy or Evelien anywhere. Both the door to the bedroom area and the hallway outside are closed, and the only lights on are the ones in the living room and the kitchen that Sean and I just bolted out of.
"Where are the girls?" I turn back to Mark who has his nose in his phone. Sean is looking over his shoulder. Both of them ignore my question. "Hello? Guys," I try again, dragging out my words.
Sean looks up at me and then back over to Mark, "I don't know if she needs to see this."
"See what," I ask walking over to them. I move to look at the phone, but Mark pulls it away.
"She's going to eventually," Mark gruffs. He exchanges a quick look with Sean, slowly hands me the phone, and steps away.
It's a Twitter hashtag feed. I recognize the tag: #Danisangels. The subscribers invented it forever ago as some kind of name for the four of us. I used to scroll the tag to cheer myself up or whenever I missed the boys. I scroll to find it flooded with various pictures of me and the boys, nothing too out of the ordinary, but now there are huge blocks of text attached to every photo.
Guys, here's another picture of her and Mark from the panel. I mean come on. The shoulder touches. The way they look at each other. Could they be more obvious???
The attached photo is from the panel when Mark was trying to comfort me about the questions. The comments on the tweet aren't much better than the original post. Some people threw around words like 'slut' and 'homewrecker;' words I was all too used to.
I continue scrolling the tag. It's just more of the same. Some of the pictures are from years ago, some are from today. All of them have sentences and comments explaining my secret relationship with one or multiple of the boys. Pictures of me in Sean's jacket from today showed up the most. We both knew people would notice. Felix was mentioned the least (most people were pretty respectful of his relationship with Marz and kept him out of it).
She's literally wearing Jack's jacket. I don't know how any of their girlfriends are cool with this!!!
Yeah, friends don't look at each other like this ;)
The fact that any of them haven't been canceled yet for this is simultaneously shocking and typical. I'm so disappointed that people like this can get away with this shit because they're attractive and well-liked.
Eventually, I find a picture I can definitively trace to the original photographer. It's from right after the panel when I walked back to the booth to hug Mark. I knew the girl in the blue hoodie took it.
"Dani? Dani?" Sean's voice snaps me out of the Twitter hypnosis. Both he and Mark look worried, and Mark slowly reaches for his phone back.
"We need to wake up Felix," I state heading for the door.
"We'll tell him tomorrow," Sean's voice echoes behind me.
I reach for the door handle, "There will be twice as many posts tomorrow. We need to handle it now."
