"Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. Now, before we start our feast please welcome Professor R.J. Lupin, our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher," a round of applause broke out as professor Lupin rose from his seat bowing. I sat in between Angel and Tori, in front of us were the twins and Lee. I turned my head and I saw Malfoy and his goons make torment the trio, Dumbledor's voice drowned out in the background."Finally, on a serious note, as a request from the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts will, until further notice, have dementors of Azkaban placed on each entrance until Sirius Black is captured," whispers filled the great hall.
"A word of caution to all of you. Dementors are vicious creatures, they will not distinguish between the only one they hunt and the one that gets in their way. Therefore I must warn you to not give them a reason to harm you. It is not their nature to be forgiving. But you must know, happiness can be found even in the darkest times." he concluded sitting back down and letting the feast begin.
I scooped up some mashed potatoes and got some of the fried chicken. Using my fork and knife I tried to cut up my food but I grew impatient and threw the utensils away, aggressively biting on the chicken leg and making Fred chuckle. She paused and her cheeks flushed pink at the realization that she ate like a troll.
"Hungry, are we Macmillan?" he teased as he took a sip of his pumpkin juice.
She glared at him but nodded her head and turned back to her plate.
Disgusting girl, years of etiquette all for nothing.
"Seems like you're getting a lot of eyes this year, Macmillan." a Scottish accent chimed.
Eli turned to look at their Quidditch captain, Oliver Wood. I furrowed my eyebrows at him and looked around. Students from different houses were indeed looking at their side of the table.
Maybe they saw me swallow the bloody chicken.
"What do you mean, Ollie?"
"Come on, you're a gorgeous lass. I think your pretty little head can catch up to that," he replied and turned back to his friends. I felt my cheeks turn warm and my eye twitched causing my friends to laugh loudly.
"They probably felt bad for the chicken," George laughed, throwing a pea in my direction and hitting me in the forehead. I playfully glared at him and threw one back at the same time he yawned making him choke.
Fred and Lee almost spat the food in their mouth when George wheezed and tried to grab his goblet.
"What the fuck?" he coughed.
"You guys hear anything?"
"No, not at all, do you?" Fred turned to Lee.
"No, I don't think so," Lee replied.
George 'tsk'd' and turned around to the Hufflepuff table.
"Oi, Diggory!" he called. I froze and kicked his knee.
Back in our 3rd year I remember having a tinsy crush on the boy then a redhead swept me off my feet. I wrote my feelings about him in a diary once and left it open when I fell asleep in the common room couch. When the twins found out they kept calling out to the boy every chance they see him, it lasted for a week.
Cedric turned and gave us a charming smile, waving at us. His smile grew when we locked eyes and winked at me making me turn scarlet. I gave him a timid smile before lowering my head.
George pursed his lips at me and made kissing noises before sticking his tongue out.
I look over to Fred with a strained smile combing his hair using his fingers. When he noticed me looking he winked and continued his conversation with Lee and George.
