CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

KATELYA:
While still contemplating stealing his car, I realise he has the keys. Bugger, what am I going to do here? I need to get away, but how the hell do I do this? As much as I like Ches, I know I could never be with him. My feelings for Johnathan are too strong to just throw it away.

"What... where are you going?"
When he asked this, I'm stepping out of his car.
"I need to pee, Ches. You didn't exactly give me a chance to go before we left. So you know needs must and all."
He sighs, and after running his hand over his tired-looking face, he nods his head. I was thinking he was about to object, but he doesn't.
"Just be quick, okay. We need to move fast."
I rolled my eyes and I'm about to walk inside too, but he called out to me. He's telling me not to stand about reading shit. What the hell?
"You know because we need to hurry."

I'm still puzzled on why he's on edge right now, but I ignore it. I head inside looking for the ladies' toilets. While I stand in the queue of the ladies, I'm catching onto a conversation between two elderly women.

"Well, I say good, riddance to both. It's one less thug off the streets. It's about time they caught him but his poor family. They're the ones to suffer now, they will have to deal with the backlash."
I hear her friend make a humming sound, agreeing with her.
"Yes, well, I still say he shouldn't get punished for it. I mean, the thug he killed wasn't exactly a good person. It's just a shame the police were looking in the wrong place for his killer. Not only that, but being wrongly accused is enough to make anybody go into hiding."

Seconds later, my body jumps with hearing that last part. It can't be, can it? They can't be talking about them, can they? Curiosity gets the better of me and I ask the ladies who they're talking about. Their eyes go a little wide. I'm thinking of taking hold of her arm might have shocked her. Naturally, I'd apologised to which she kinda smiled at but I can still see she's worried.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't help overhearing. Could you tell me who they caught?"
Her brows nip together and then she tells me she can't remember. It was on the news.
"It was on the radio in my car, so I didn't quite catch it. I just know who the boy was since he'd been on the news a few times."
When I ask about his name, I get confused.
"Oh, it was that boy the Charlton boy. I think it was Steven something or something like that. But yes, they'd found his killer in the early hours. I..."
Before she could finish, I ask if she's got a phone and if I could borrow it.
"I'm sorry, I've kinda left mine in the car. It's important I see it. Please, do you mind? I promise it'll only take a second."

She nods, but then when she pulls out her phone, I end up sighing. Christ, it's ancient. I'm surprised it still works. I know for a fact it won't have internet. So I end up shaking my head while telling her it's no good.

"Sorry I need to connect to the internet. I need to see who it was."
Her friend suddenly spoke up, telling me she's got internet, but she's not sure what the signal will be like in here.

"Oh, thank you. Honestly, I'll only be a second with it."
When she unlocked her phone and connects me, I'm typing out Stefan's name. What I find isn't what I was expecting to see... or should I say who? Holy shit. I wasn't expecting to see him at all, but I get it. I can totally see why he did it. No, it wasn't Vincent, it was Albert. Holy shit! He killed Stefan. They'd somehow gathered enough evidence to charge him. He's looking at spending a lot of time in prison for it.

While looking at it, a thought pops into my head. If they've arrested him, he will have to explain why he'd killed him. FUCK! Johnathan! It'll come back to him. They'll find out that he'd allowed him to help Albert. Then they'll find out about his warehouse, the one which Stefan set alight. Then they'll discover some of his artefacts are dodgy ones. Not only that but there's a possibility they'll want to ask about me. They'll piece it all together, then he'll get in trouble for not calling the police. You know, when he should've done. Wait... did Ches know about this? Does he already know they have him? No, he wouldn't do that, would he? Why would he say "our positions compromised" if they'd caught him? Vin wouldn't hurt me. I just know it. I mean, wouldn't he have done it by now? Unless... Ches, HOLY FUCK! Is he kidnapping me? He's been acting strange, and he also doesn't want me to read any shit either. Oh my god, he is! He's running away and taking me with him, but why? What on earth would make him run? Wait, where was he last night? He didn't come back after our "fucked-up moment." So where did he stay?
