"Mirrell go ahead and run that play again!" Coach Williams yelled across the field as he blew his whistle. "Y'all boys need to get it right, we got a game in a few hours and I'm not taking anything but a victory!" He added.

Alisha walked over to the fence guarding the large football feild and leaned over the gate. 2 minutes later Kevin was running off the feild over to her.

"I'm glad to see you made it." He said as he took off his helmet to give her a peck on the lips. "I wouldn't miss it for the world, I guess I gotta start getting used to bein' out here now anyway." she said with a big smile on her face. "You better, I got a surprise for you too." He said.

"Mirrell! This ain't 'The Stories', get your ass back on this feild boy!" Coach Williams shouted. "Aight coach, I'm comin'!" He yelled back. Alisha let out a chuckle. "Well I gotta go back to the feild baby, we'll finish this in a minute. Do a lil cheer for me in the stands or somethin'." He said playfully as he caressed her chin. She giggled, "I'll do my best." She said jokingly.

She headed to the middle of the bleachers and pulled her books out of her backpack. She began studying and doing her homework while occasionally looking back at the feild to watch Kevin. Damn he looks so good out there playin' She thought to herself.

He wasnt in his full uniform but he had on his helmet, his tight muscle shirt and his nike defender pants which all accented his athletic body. It couldn't get any better right now than watching him. Except maybe it not being so hot. Alisha wiped the sweat from her forehead and continued doing her homework.

As she began writing she started to see her hand making a smug onto the white paper. As she examined it closer it was make up. The sweat was now causing the concealer to run.

She packed her things up and went into the gymnasium and headed towards the ladies room. The make up was no longer smooth and now it looked all blochy, she grabbed some liquid soap and water to scrub her face and neck. She rinsed off her face and dried it with a paper towel. Luckily throughout the day the purple mark under her eye had faded and it was barley visible.

She headed back to the feild where the players were now resting. She sat her books on the stands and walked towards Kevin who was sitting on a bench drinking his Gatorade with teammates. She walked up behind him placing her hand on the back of his head.

"Oh I thought you changed your mind and left me" he said. "No I just had something to take care of real quick" she said as she started caressing his head. "If you don't know, this is my girl Alisha everybody" Kevin announced.

"Sup?" Said one of the players, everybody gave a wave or head nod. "Hey" Alisha said in a soft shy voice.

Kevin stood up "C'mon before our break is over, I wanna give you your surprise now" he grabbed her hand and guided her to the school parking lot to his car.

He got in the drivers seat and reached over to the glove compartment. He pulled out a silver necklace that had a heart shaped diamond madalian.

"Oh my god Kevin why are you giving me this?" Alisha said in shock while staring at it. "My grandfather gave it to my grandmother and said it would make her his goodluck charm, I was thinking it would do the same for us" he said while taking the necklace out the case. "I don't know what to say, it's beautiful though baby" she said.

In Alisha's mind she just hoped they weren't moving too fast but she kept the thought to herself.

"Turn around" he demanded with a smile on his face. Alisha turned around so he could put the necklace around her thin neck.

"Where did you get all these scratches from?" He asked out of concern. Alisha's eyes got big and she paused for a second and hesitated. "Uh, me and my brother were playin' around so I ended up with a few scratches that's all" she said.

Alisha didn't know if she was ready to let him in on what was going on at home or if she even wanted him to know. She didn't want it to end up like the Dria situation and have everyone in her business.

"I didn't know you had a brother, what's his name?" He asked while continuing to lock the necklace. "Yea I have 2 younger sibblings and an older brother named Corey, he goes here too" she said. "Dark-skinned Corey, the one who's always with Sean?" He asked with his face scrunched up. "Yeah that's him! You know him or something?" She said as she faced him. "Uh...yeah...somethin' like that, I know of him...Um, did you tell him about you and I?" He asked with hesitation. "He said he seen us in the halls today but I didn't go into detail about anything, why?" She said as she leaned against his car. "I don't think he's a big fan of me, it's probably best to keep things low so he doesn't find out about us or he might have a problem". He said while rubbing his hand across the back of his neck. "Why do you feel like that?" She asked. "It's a long story but let's just try to keep it away from him" He continued, "we should probably head back now. Oh but wait I almost forgot."

He popped the trunk of his car and began digging in the inside. He pulled out a red and gold Varsity Jacket that said Mirrell on the back and had the number 40 under it. "I know it's hot outside right now but later on tonight it's gonna cool down. I told you I wanted you to rock number 40 so here it is" he added as he handed her the jacket.

"You got me feelin' so special right now, come here." She said as she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. "You got me feelin' special too" he said as he parted from her lips and looked in her eyes. "Alright let's go." he added as he closed his trunk.

. . .

It was now 6 o' clock and the game was about to began. All the home and visitors crowd were in their seats cheering as both bands played their first selection of music for the night.

Alisha had been to a couple of the games before and it's just how she remembers it. She was by herself in the stands but it was perfectly fine with her, her only goal was to be there to support her boyfriend.

The National Anthem was played by the school marching band on the feild. Once it was over the commentators started to announce the game. First the players from the Mardell Tigers came running out and the home crowd began to cheer. Once the Black Panther from Hillsborough high came they let out a lousy clap. Both teams have been rivals for years and this was the most anticipated game all year so the stands were packed. Both teams huddled up and hit the feild. Just when the play was about to start Alisha felt a hand touch her shoulder and somebody taking a seat next to her.

She looked up and it was Monica. Alisha still had an attitude from earlier in the day but she didn't wanna to bring it up, not here, not now.

"Hey, why didn't you tell me you were comin' to the game?" Monica asked. "Hell I couldn't tell you nothin' 'cause you was too busy with ya ex" Alisha said while still continuing to watch the feild. "Don't act like you didn't leave me the other day to go be with Kevin" Monica snapped back. "Yeah but at least I let you know where I was gonna be at" said Alisha. At this point she was getting aggravated with her friend.

"I guess you right I'm sorry though" Monica replied as she put her arm around her friends neck to hug her. "Wait a minute" she continued. She pulled away from the hug and leaned back and to read Alisha's jacket. "Mirrell?!" She asked in shock. "Am I missin' somethin?'" she added.

"Well that's what I was tryin' to tell you at lunch but I guess I wasn't more important than Jermaine" Alisha said. "I just said sorry, I don't know what else you want me to do" Monica replied. "Anyway I'm about to go to the consession stand, Im hungry so see you later" Alisha said as she walked down the bleachers.

Alisha didn't have a penny to her name but she used it as an excuse to get away from Monica.

To Monica she felt as though Alisha was blowing things out of proportion but it's not the first time Monica has left her to be with some guy. Maybe it's time for her to get a taste of her own medicine Alisha thought to herself.
