[FINN]
"Done, done, done and done. Welcome to the family, boys."
Dylan's smile was genuine, as was the relief we felt collectively as a band. I looked over at the three grins to my right, allowing a breath of relief to escape my lips. While I still felt conflicted, knowing a certain someone would not be pleased with me, it did feel like a bandaid had been ripped off.
"Exciting shit," I nodded, her fingers squeezing my shoulder. "Thanks for believing in us."
"Thanks for trusting me," she retorted, grabbing the second bottle of Dom Perignon I'd seen in a week off her desk. "Celebrations are in order."
"Jonesy, I think we're going to like you," Jack smirked, accepting the generous pour of champagne. He sipped it, raising his eyebrows at me. "Harrison will be dearly missed but I'll take this over a lukewarm six-pack any day."
I picked at my lip, quietly thanking Dylan as she passed me my cup last.
"Feels real for the first time," Ace added in, shrugging his shoulders over at the rest of us. "Dunno why, but this feels official. Harry always felt like he owed someone's dad a favor so he was stuck looking after us."
"I mean, he is my dad's friend," I smirked, the room laughing.
I sipped the champagne, nodding to myself as they kept chirping away excitedly. I looked around at her office, impressed by all of the accolades adorning the wall. Her name was engraved on a gold plate, Gucci purse hanging from the chair.
"Do you guys want to check out the terrace?" She offered up, smile deepening. "The view is sick at this time of day."
"Fucking terrace," Pete scoffed, knocking back his champagne. "'Course I want to see the fucking terrace."
We walked out of the room, a round of cheers greeting us from those in cubicles and passersby. I gave a smile, nodding my head in thanks as we walked towards the stairs. Jack, Pete and Ace led the way up, Dylan slowing her step to walk alongside me.
"I don't know you that well yet so I apologize if I'm misreading things," she laughed. "But you seem awfully quiet. Is everything okay?"
"To be fair, been known to be quiet," I ran my fingers through my hair, giving her an assuring smile. "All is well. I just have a very protective missus who felt we were rushing into a decision. Not sure I helped the matter making it official today."
"Understood. You don't know me that well yet, either. So I get it, but I'm a woman of my word and I'm telling you, I got you. Truly want to make this the easiest relationship possible, you have enough going on."
"It's nothing against you. She was just worried, you know. Her dad is in the business and got burned."
Her amusement confirmed my suspicions as she nodded, knowingly. "I do my research with all of my clients, but I also don't live under a rock. Miss Aurora Thorn, right?"
"Rory, yeah."
"She's talented, by the way. She's a fantastic writer."
My cheeks heated as if the compliment were directed towards me, meaning more than if it was.
"She's great, all around."
We stepped outside, the warm breeze easing the goosebumps on my arms. I glanced around as my hair blew back off my face, taking in the view. Dylan didn't lie, the skyline looking far more picturesque than it did stuck in traffic. I finished off my champagne, shutting my eyes and taking it all in for a second.
When I opened my eyes, I aimlessly kicked at stray rocks on the ground - listening to the easy conversation around me. Dylan reappeared next to me and we stood in a comfortable silence for a bit, a good sign.
