"She's so cute, sister!" Y/n squealed as her older sister placed the baby in y/ns arms.
"Isn't she?"
"Eddie look at her, she so pretty" y/n looked back towards Eddie, holding the 3 month old close in her arms.

Y/ns sister and brother in law came to Hawkins to show off their new baby to their friends and family. Y/n was just so excited to finally have a baby in the family. She knew she would never have one herself as Eddie didn't want them. Y/n didn't mind, her and Eddie had plans to travel the world together. As long as it was them, she was happy.

"Yeah" Eddie mumbled looking anywhere but y/n as she held the child.
"Your Tia loves you, baby" y/n pressed a small kiss to her nieces head.
"God how did you even make something so perfect" y/n smiled looking at her sister who was sitting down; a well deserved break.

"We don't know, but isn't she the cutest" y/ns sister smiled watching as y/n bounced the baby in her arms.
"But I do have to feed her really quick"
"Oh yeah, just be quick! I want to hold her some more" y/n passed back the small child, feeling empty once she did. She wasn't sure if the feeling, but she knew it made her tummy feel weird.

As soon as y/ns sister left the room, y/n turned to Eddie with a confused look on her face.
"Why are you acting so weird?" Y/n asked Eddie quietly, making sure her sister couldn't hear.
"I dunno, babies just kind of freak me out I guess" Eddie shrugged, giving a half ass answer.
"No they don't, you like Steve and Nancy's baby"
"It's different, I know them"
"You have known y/s/n and James for like 8 years Eddie, what's so different" y/n asked taking a seat next to him.
Eddie just shrugged off the question standing up to get a drink from the fridge.

Y/n wasn't sure why he was acting this way, sure eddie didn't want to have kids of his own. But he was acting like his niece had the plague or something. He never acted like this around steve and Nancy's kid. He always held him and played with him. So what was different about his niece? Sure, y/n and Eddie were married and he made it clear early on that he didn't want kids, but he had no issue babysitting their friends kids, so what was the issue?

"James is going meet me to have dinner at moms, you guys want to come?" Y/ns sister came out from the spare bedroom holding a freshly fed baby.
"No, mom and I are fighting. But you guys have fun" y/n stood to give her sister a hug and her neice a kiss on the head.
"Why are you fighting with mom this time?"
"She's just upset that you had a baby before me.. you know I'm the oldest so I should have already had kids"
"But that's not what you and Eddie want, she will cook off sometime soon. I'll see you soon okay?"
"Of course, love you" y/n walked her sister go to the door.
"Bye" Eddie waved from the kitchen not wanting to even get close to the baby.

Something didn't feel right to y/n, Eddie had never acted like that before. He was normally talking up a storm to y/ns sister. He was always talkative, to anyone really.
And when Steve had his baby, Eddie was one of the firsts to hold him.
Y/n didn't bring anything up right away. She sat on it for a while... well for a few hours.

As she tossed and turned at night, she realized that she had to ask him. What was so wrong with their niece that he didn't even want to hold her or look at her?

"Why didn't you want to hold Sofia?" Y/n asked looking up at the dark ceiling.
"What?" Eddie asked back, showing he wasn't sleeping as well.
"Why didn't you hold her? You didn't even look at her, is there something wrong with her?" Y/n asked getting defensive. What could be wrong with that sweet little baby?

"It's not that y/n. Just go to bed" Eddie rolled over facing the opposite way.
"No I want to talk about this" y/n groaned reaching over to turn on the bedside lamp.
"God!" Eddie winced at the sudden light in the room.
